First Funeral

IMG_4665

Janie attended her fist funeral and said goodbye to her great grandmother this morning.

We had a memorial service for her today at Rose Hills and Janie was so well-behaved during the hour-long service.

IMG_4667

Thanks to Auntie Jia for keeping her company.

Out on the lawn, Janie brought her backpack filled with things to keep her occupied.  Yai helped keep track of all her bracelets.IMG_4677

As we waited for the burial service to finish, Janie wandered the lawn and went up and down the hills with Ankong.

IMG_4680

She also learned how to pick flowers.  IMG_4681

Ama taught her that these particular flowers were actually weeds.

IMG_4688

This one was for her Great PoPo.

IMG_4692

She also enjoyed picking flowers out of the floral arrangements at the end.

These pink ones were her favorites.

I’m glad that Janie’s first funeral experience was a good one.

We’ll miss you Great PoPo!

Some evenings, Janie will point to the iPad and call out all the people in her family.  It means she wants to call them.  Well, she did that tonight and Uncle Johnny, Auntie Joy, and Alice were all at Yai and Ta’s house.  Great!  So, she got to see everyone at the same time.

Early Birthday Party

IMG_1631

We celebrated Janie’s 2nd birthday today with her family in Southern California.  We gathered at Thai Nakorn (our usual restaurant) and she got to see all her aunties, uncles, and 2nd cousins.

One of the best parts of this lunch was seeing Ankong and Ama!!

She ate lots of noodles and we ordered her favorite soup – Thom Kha.  She had two bowls and kept asking for more.

IMG_1601

Janie also received so many gifts.  What a fun surprise!

IMG_1598

She got books, lots of Legos, and clothes.

When it was time for cake, she was so pleased by the singing but also confused by all the people looking at her at once.

I love her expression here.

IMG_3167

She got a big slice of ice cream cake (mint chip ice cream with chocolate cake).

Dig in, Little One!

IMG_5613

The ice cream was a bit cold for her but she kept eating.

Here’s our family photo.  Too bad she was staring at the giant cake in front of her instead of the camera.

Thanks to everyone who was able to come!  So glad we were able to pull this off on such short notice!!

Tea Party!

IMG_1527

Janie finally had enough people for a tea party!

IMG_1535

The backyard and table set made it even better!

IMG_1539

Alu joined the party and enjoyed her cup of tea.

IMG_1543

Yai and Ta also joined in and there was enough tea for everyone.

Birthday Brunch

IMG_0327

It’s Auntie Joy’s birthday today so we took a walk down to a restaurant by the water to celebrate.  It was super sunny outside so Janie got to wear shorts and her sassy sunglasses.

IMG_0337

There was a bit of a wait so she had her milk on the deck with the girls.

IMG_0340

She made sure to “cheers” Auntie on her birthday.

IMG_2951

IMG_0343

Here she is decorating one of the menus.  Good thing it’s a daily menu because there was crayon all over it once she was finished with it.

IMG_0358

For lunch, she had fish and chips and actually liked the malt vinegar.  That’s Mommy’s little girl!

IMG_0353

She also got a hold of Mommy’s phone and took a pretty good picture of her family.  Not bad!!!

IMG_0366

When we got home, we had to say goodbye to Uncle Johnny, Auntie Joy, and Alice.  Janie gave her cousin a big kiss.  So sweet.
