Speedy Eating a video by beakatude on Flickr.
Nevermind the child standing in her highchair. Although I’m pretty fascinated by how quickly she’s gobbling up her blueberries.
Watch us grow!

I was putting away some of the clothes that Janie’s grown out of this afternoon and found this cute little top. It’s size 2T but was pretty snug on her last December. I had her try it on again today and it fits better now than before! It’s as if her arms have gotten skinnier and so has her trunk. So now this outfit is back in rotation!
She enjoyed the afternoon at home playing with her toys with Glee playing on the TV in the background.
She sat quietly in the livingroom moving her toys from one container to another. It’s funny how serious she is about this task.
Janie’s also working on her dance moves. Now that she doesn’t have to hold onto anything, her bouncing is a little subtler than before. Looks like she needs a little more practice but it’s a good start.
I finally caught this on video. She’s so independent now…getting up and just walking away.
Janie figured out how to stand up on her own from the floor. No video yet but I needed to record this is a major milestone!
Janie went to see the doctor today for her 12-month check-up. I was so blown away that she’s now at a point where I don’t have her on my lap in the waiting room anymore. She enjoyed the toys in the waiting room and in the exam room. She got a shot in both thighs and a toe stick for a blood test. Turns out she’s anemic and she needs to eat more iron. We’re gonna need to make some pâté and red meat for her!
Here are her stats:
Weight = 22 pounds (67th percentile)
Height = 29 inches (47th percentile)
Her weight and height have slowed down a lot and she’s now in the normal range (25th to 75th percentile). Our fatty baby is normal?! Amazing. I guess she’s moving and burning all the milk she’s drinking.
Janie went to the playground today for some cruising and crawling this morning.
She’s so stable now on her feet.
And check out this half-kneel!
I purposely placed all our plastic containers on the bottom drawer thinking that one day Janie would have a good time with them.
Well, she found them today and had a nice little container party by herself.
Who needs a big house when you have a big condo with lots of good places to hang out?! This evening while we were waiting for the Jangs to arrive, Janie got to play in the lobby. She had a blast going from one chair to another and feeling the rug and concrete floor under her feet.
Last week, Daddy washed the ball-cano in the shower. He forgot that it was battery-operated and it had stopped working. I thought it was toast and was ready to give it away but just the other day, we tested it out and it came back to life! I guess some electronics CAN recover from water exposure.
This afternoon we took Janie to the San Francisco Zoo. It started out with a few showers on our drive over but by the time we arrived, it had stopped and didn’t rain the rest of the day. This was Janie’s first trip to a zoo and there was a lot to see!
At the entrance, we were greeted with a free sample of chocolate milk and the Nesquik bunny. He’s much cuter than any Easter bunny I’ve ever seen.
The first exhibit was the African Savanna and Janie saw the giraffes!
They were close enough and big enough for Janie to see.
They didn’t have any elephants at this zoo but they had a statue of a baby elephant.
She seemed to enjoy watching the ducks and swans in the pond.
The best part for her was the Children’s Zoo. The prairie dog exhibit was really cute and the glass was low enough for Janie to stand and watch. This photo looks like she’s saying, “I want the chubby one, mama!”
It was so cute watching her go back and forth along the glass.
What a fun afternoon at the zoo!!
