We made it to the half-way point to one year today! Janie is 26 weeks old! Hooray!!
This week, she got her second tooth (on Wed 10/17) and also started eating solids for the first time. Her first food was sweet potato and I think she enjoys the whole process of eating, playing with the food, and chewing on the spoon. She’s sitting up nice and tall now and was trying her best to roll from back to front today but hasn’t quite mastered it.
She can get around to her side and throws her top leg and arm over but then gets stuck. It’s ok…it’ll happen soon enough.
Here’s a video I took during our weekly photo shoot. I love this kid. Click here if you can’t see the video above.
Janie has really pretty brown highlights in her hair that will probably disappear one day when she gets her hair cut. I think it’s lighter because it’s the hair that was on her head when she was born.
I thought I’d take some photos to help me preserve it. (By the way, this photo is supposed to be turned this way.)
Then I got this silly photo of the top half of her face. For some reason, I really like the way this came out. I might have to put this one up on the wall one day.
Today we took BART to Livermore to visit Auntie Stephanie. After an afternoon of wine tasting at the nearby vineyards, we hung out at her gigantic house.
Janie got to play on the carpet and in front of a closet mirror. It looked like she was pretty amused by her own reflection.
She also hung out on the squishy sofa with her toys while the grown-ups ate dinner and until she was ready to go to sleep.
On the ride back home, she slept so soundly and we practically had the whole train car to ourselves.
Janie is 17 weeks old today! Yippee! She just had her first week with Daddy on his own (for the past 3 days) and it’s been going well. Her sleep schedule is back to 7+ hours per night and she’s eating like a little piggy. I just finished my second week at work and it’s been going alright. It’s still hard leaving Janie each morning but I feel better knowing that Daddy will be with her.
Janie was a little distracted by her feet during this little photoshoot.
And here she is in her tripod sitting position. What a funny little expression on her face! I love this kid.
This morning after I fed Janie, I put her down in the bassinet while I cleaned up. When I can back, she stuck her tongue out at me! It’s different from what she does when she’s hungry. Her tongue was coming out of her mouth farther than usual and in different positions (to the left or to the right).
She was also doing it repeatedly. Yaay! She has voluntary tongue protrusion! As an OT, this makes me so excited. She’s one step closer to eating solids!
