We are so lucky to have this playground nearby.
Looks like Janie and Karla had the whole playground to themselves this morning.
Uh…did she get a taste of sand just now?
Regardless, it seems like playing in the sand doesn’t get old.
Watch us grow!

I was looking through my camera and found these photos. It looks like Mirian took Janie to the Creativity Museum today. Before going inside, they rode the carousel. Here is Janie at the entrance. She looks like such a little punk in the photo above…just like her dad.
She’s such a big girl now.
Now it’s time for the museum!
I found this decorated toilet paper roll on the dining table today.
Looks like she worked pretty hard on it. Heh heh.
I guess this is the city that everyone has been working on these past two weeks. It’s pretty impressive.
That’s Janie’s friend Asher in the background making his contribution to the city.
It’s just another Saturday and Janie is enjoying her time in the livingroom as usual. Got some photos of her being super cute.
She still has Daddy’s scowl!
Streeeeetch!
Also, thanks for the outfit, Great Auntie Kiyomi!
We’ve been paying a visit to Mr. Ocean each day to keep Janie acclimated to the surf.
This morning she did better when Daddy took her out.
She also held it together when I held her in knee-deep water. However, she was still crawling up my arms each time a wave came by.
Look at this brave girl sitting on the sand near the water line!
For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get Janie more accustomed to drinking water out of her straw cup. She’s totally capable but often gets distracted by the handles and usually prefers to chew on them rather than drink out of the straw. If she does take a sip, it’s really small and then she’ll toss the cup aside and onto the floor. Tonight at dinner, she grabbed the cup off the table and started drinking on her own. She actually held onto the cup with both hands and took 2-3 huge sips in a row.
She did this repeatedly tonight and even went with the one-handed hold so she could eavesdrop on the table next to us. Hopefully she’s do this for Mirian on Monday because she still doesn’t believe me when I tell her that she can drink from a straw.
Mirian took Janie to the Children’s Museum and then for a ride on the carousel too. Don’t worry…Mirian is holding her from behind. Janie has such a worried look on her face in this photo and Mirian said that she was actually a little scared.
Maybe she’ll get over it by the next ride. By the way, she’s no longer scared of bubbles. Yippee!
Janie and Mommy take trips to the Farmer’s Market almost every Saturday to pick up fruits and veggies. Today we had breakfast outside together.
Janie also met a famous chef, Chris Cosentino, this morning. She wasn’t so sure of him. I think she was worried that he was going to steal her puffs.
I wanted to get a photo of her two bottom teeth and this is the expression she gave me. Can you see them?
Today was a big day for us! It started this morning when we decided to give Janie her first taste of food. So I took her to the Farmers’ Market and we picked out two organic sweet potatoes. When I handed her one, she looked a little skeptical.
Here she is with her brand-new bib on and seated in her feeder seat attached to one of our dining chairs. She has no idea what’s about to happen.
Here’s a video of her first bites. Yai and Ta were on FaceTime at the moment so you can hear their comments along the way. Click here if you can’t see the video above.
I think she liked it but she seemed more confused than anything else. She ended up eating about a tablespoon of my homemade pureed sweet potato today.
Here she is at the end of the meal with sweet potato on her face, hands, and even a little in her hair – the picture of a successful first meal! Clean up was pretty easy today but I am NOT looking forward to her poops tomorrow.
