Preschool Visit

This morning, Janie went to visit her new preschool for the first time. It was scheduled for 11-12pm and we were asked to pack a lunch for her. We all went together and took the train to school. That was an exciting change for her.

Mama and Dada got to join her for the hour and we all met her teachers and classmates.

She got to play with toys and briefly played with two 4-year-old girls who will be going to the older class next month.

Before lunch, everyone sat on the rug for a couple stories. She got to sit on Dada’s lap today.

Next was potty time and Janie used one of the little toilets all on her own and washed her hands at one of the Janie-sized sinks too.

She joined the kids for lunch and was so happy to see that Dada had packed her one of her favorite meals: Kao Mun Gai (chicken rice with sauce, cilantro, and cucumber). Dada had to leave for work but Mama stayed with her for lunch. She opened the containers on her own and ate like a big girl.

On our way out, we saw where the kids will be napping. It’s in the room next door and they all have their own cots with bedding and blankets that they brought from home.

What a great first visit! It was super easy considering Mama and Dada were there with her. We will have to see how Thursday goes when we drop her off for 2 hours on her own. This is the entrance to her new school. It’s part of Bright Horizons and Marin Day Schools. We hope she will love it.

To celebrate a successful visit, Janie got a special treat while Mama and Yai had lunch.

She got some orange jello from one of the dim sum carts. Cool!!

99 Ranch Market

This morning was spent going to 99 Ranch Market to pick up a bunch of stuff that we needed for this week’s meals.

Janie got to of her favorite things: dried shredded pork and Pocky. She wanted to try the strawberry-flavored ones tonight. By the way, that’s a giant mosquito bite on her left arm. She got eaten alive last night when we had to leave the windows open. It’s been so hot up here! The AC at the market was a nice relief for all of us.

Janie also got a hold of Mama’s phone again and started snapping away.

I like seeing her perspective of the world.

After we finished shopping, we went next door to have some pho for lunch. This kid loves soup!

We had a relaxing Saturday morning at home. Janie hung out with Mama in bed for part of the morning and gave her lots of hugs.

Lots of Sunshine

This morning, we headed down to the Ferry Plaza for the Thursday Farmers’ Market.

It was warm and sunny so Janie got to run around and blow bubbles.

She also picked out a new plant for the window at home and got some fresh apple juice.

After lunch, we went down to the courtyard for a tea party in the sun.

It was sunglasses and hats for everyone!

This morning, Janie went to Mama’s doctor visit and then we walked down to Yerba Buena Gardens to have a snack. We sat by the waterfall while Janie had some blueberry bagel.

After stopping at Target to pick up some paint for her clubhouse, we went to the museum to ride the carousel. When I asked which one she wanted to ride, she immediately said “caballo!”

We got two rides with our ticket and she had a great time.

We also went to the playground for some climbing and sliding.

Janie climbed to the top of the big kid slide but was too scared to go down the actual slide.

When we got home, she painted part of her clubhouse red, orange, and yellow. Mama really appreciates washable paint.

Picnic

After lunch, we went back to Pier 27. The symphony was all done but there was plenty of sunshine left in the afternoon. So, we laid out the blanket and Janie had a great time playing on the grass and having snacks.

She used Dada as a pillow and also did a balancing act on him.

We took a few selfies and Janie also got a hold of Dada’s phone and took quite a few photos that afternoon.

Today, she learned how to turn the camera around to take a picture of herself.

Janie had so much fun at her picnic today that she wanted to continue it when we got home.

So, she laid out the blanket in the livingroom and had some fruit.

SF Symphony

At Pier 27, they had a free concert held by the SF Symphony. It was packed by the time we got there but we managed to find a place to sit to enjoy the music.

We had perfect weather today too – sunny and warm with a gentle breeze.

Stink Face

This morning, Janie woke up and came into our bedroom with her pajama top missing. I guess it was a little too warm in the house last night.

Then she climbed into bed with us and we took a couple silly pictures together.

Hog Island Oyster Co.

For dinner, we walked down to the Ferry Building and had dinner at Hog Island Oyster Co.

While we waited for a table, Janie had fun getting her picture taken and taking pictures with Mama’s phone. It’s fun to see her perspective of the world.

Before the food arrived, she colored one of her pictures. It looks like her interest in coloring has returned.

She had a good dinner of oysters, clams, bread, and soup. Cheers, Dada!

July 4th at the Zoo!

Happy 4th of July! In the morning, we went to the SF Zoo and met up with Rowan and Isla.

We saw the usual animals but lots of them were sleeping this morning.

We had lunch together at noon and then it was off to the rides!! Dada’s company has special passes for the kids to get unlimited rides on the train and carousel so that’s what we did!!
