It’s 6:21 am and this little baby has been up crying since 4:25 am.
Rough Afternoon

I came home to a grumpy Daddy and an equally grumpy baby. Looked like they had quite a battle this afternoon.

Luckily after a change of the guard, Daddy got some alone time and baby was happy again.
Waaaah!

We had a rough day today. Janie seems to be going through her 3-month growth spurt this past week but today seemed especially bad. She was extra grouchy and just wanted to be held today. When Daddy came home from work, he was able to help me and I was able to finish making dinner. We had just enough time to eat before she woke up again. Daddy went in to soothe her again and 20 minutes later I found them in the bedroom like this.

Poor baby (and Daddy too).
Grouchy

This morning Janie started out well and then got a bit grouchier as the morning progressed. She has learned how to complain by doing a pretend cry without tears.

Here she is an hour later. She’s still grouchy but able to just chill out on her own with her trusty giraffe.
Two-Month Check-up

This morning we took Janie to the doctor for her 2-month check-up. She was a happy camper for most of the appointment and the doctor was, again, impressed with her progress. We were also told that she was ready to stretch her feeds to about 6 ounces every 4 hours and we should shoot for 6-8 hours of sleep through the night. Sheesh…wouldn’t that be great?!

Here are the stats:
Weight: 13 lbs, 8 oz. (95th percentile)
Length: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 38.25 cm

Janie also got some vaccinations today. The first was an oral vaccination. She did ok with that one and didn’t spit up or anything afterward. What a trooper.

Next were the injections. Here’s the first one in the right thigh. Look at how happy she still was during that one. She made a little squeal but it wasn’t too bad.

Here’s the injection in the left thigh. This one made her really cry. Poor baby. It even bled a little. I didn’t realize it until I removed the Band-Aid later this evening and found it soaked in blood. Overall, I was pretty impressed at how quickly she recovered from both shots. Once we picked her up, dressed her, and gave her the pacifier, she was all good and passed out in the car. Doctor said to pick up some Infant Tylenol and to watch out for a fever. So far she’s had no fever but was a little fussier than usual. Good job, Baby Girl!
49 days

Janie is 7 weeks old today! She just finished her 6-week growth spurt and we’ve officially packed away the rest of her newborn clothes. She looks unhappy in this photo because she had a poopy diaper.
6-week growth spurt

It’s happening again. Our little girl is going through a feeding frenzy and has been a little more irritable. It’s the 6-week growth spurt!!! We hope it won’t last long.
See you later.

Janie is now 40 days old and Yai went back to Cerritos today. Janie was sad to see her go. Thanks for all your help! We’ll see you on FaceTime!
First Bath

On Saturday afternoon, Janie’s umbilical cord stump fell off. We let it air dry for a couple days and had it checked by the nurse today during our weight check visit. She said it looked healed and that it was ok to give her a bath. Yay!

So tonight, we got the bath ready and it was time for a little soak in the warm water. We had a feeling she wouldn’t like it and we were right. She cried most of the time but actually calmed for a bit in the middle.

It was a really quick bath and I was surprised we were able to get a few photos taken of the “traumatic” experience.

She stopped crying immediately after she was taken out of the water and wrapped up in her towel. What a funny girl.

She was also pretty chill while Daddy put on her diaper and PJs. It was almost time for a feeding so we had to give her a pacifier too, which kept her satisfied until we were finished drying and dressing her.

Here she is about 30 minutes later after getting all cleaned and fed.

At one week of age, Janie is lifting her head against gravity already! Tummy Time is hard but so important. Click here if you can’t see the video above.
