This evening, Yai arrived from Cerritos and as soon as she walked in the door, Janie yelled “YAI!” and gave her a big hug.
They called Ta, who was still at home and then Cousin Alice called on the other line.
At one point it was a 3-way FaceTime call!
Later in the evening, she watched Yai play slots on her iPad and then learned where to touch the Spin button.
Fun times.
Before bed, they read books and just hung out together.
What a special evening!
These two have really warmed up to each other. Janie and Alice had to cool off after a long walk outside in the sun so they were comparing tummies.
Later that afternoon, while Alice was getting her milk, Janie came by to watch.
She was so curious and was eager to share her milk with the baby.
Auntie Joy helped Janie with her breakfast this morning.
Janie went to the Race Expo to pick up her bib and t-shirt for tomorrow’s race. It’s hard to see but her bib has her number and name printed on it! Cool!
There was so much space downstairs so she got to walk around with Daddy and Auntie Joy.
They had water stations all around the expo and she practiced sipping from an open cup.
We’ve gotta stay hydrated in this heat and for the race tomorrow!!
Janie also scored a Little Mermaid magnet! Yippee!
She also loved all the free rubber arm bands that we picked up.
Since the expo was at Disneyland Hotel, we stayed for dinner at Downtown Disney. She gobbled up the cold grapes that Mommy packed for her. It was SO HOT outside.
We also took her into the Lego Store to take a look around. So. Many. Legos.
Uncle Johnny bought her a mini set of Legos today.
It has a polar bear, penguin, and the cube pieces that she loves so much! Thanks, Uncle!

Janie went to Manhattan Beach today with Mommy, Uncle Johnny, and Auntie Joy. She got a warm-up by holding Auntie Joy and Mommy’s hands.
Then she took off on her own!

Janie visited the small aquarium at the end of Manhattan Beach Pier today. It’s that little house at the top of the photo.
On the way down, she stopped to check out the surf.
Here’s the big eel that swam past her.
She also tried to touch the shark.
This one had a little sting ray inside.
What fun!
It’s taken Janie a couple days to get used to the waves here in Maui. She was brave enough to go out to the water with Mommy this afternoon without a whole lot of crying.
The only time she cried was when the water rushed over her too quickly and splashed her in the face.
The rest of the day was spent playing in the sand under the umbrella.
Now THERE’S my happy girl!
Auntie Jia even found her a shovel that was sitting near our chairs and umbrella.
She had a pretty good time and it was a good way to spend the last day of her trip to Maui.
One of the best things about this trip is all the quality time that Janie gets to spend with her Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy.
They’re much more fun in person versus on a computer screen.
Janie played in the pool this afternoon. She needed a little time to get used to it but once she learned to splash and kick it was all good.
Auntie Joy and Uncle Johnny brought home an elephant from Thailand and gave Janie her very own pink elephant that is smaller than theirs. Today over Facetime, their elephants had a little reunion.
