It was nice having Ama over this afternoon.
Janie had a nice long tea party with her and Auntie Jia.
She also showed off some of her dance moves.

Before dinner, she got help with her zipper and then took a picture with Ama.

Cheese!!
Watch us grow!

In the late morning, we walked down to the Ferry Plaza to meet up with Uncle Jason, Auntie Jia, and Ama. Janie took a nice nap during our walk and stayed asleep for at least an hour. When she woke up, she was extra-clingy to Daddy.

Once she was a little more awake, she was ready for some ice cream!!

We later took everyone to one of her favorite playgrounds. She went on teeter-totter with Auntie Jia and also went down the big slide today for the first time.

On the walk home, she held GG on her head while she drank her milk.

It’s Daddy’s birthday tomorrow and we celebrated it a day early because Ankong and Ama are in town!! Janie met up with them at our usual celebration spot, Hillstone.

When they arrived, they brought presents for Janie (yes, not for Dada). She got a coloring set, puzzle, and some new clothes! Thank you!!

After dinner, we ordered a key lime pie and Janie sang “Happy Birthday” to Dada. She also tried to blow out the candle for him but she didn’t blow hard enough.

She also got to hang out with Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia during dinner. What a fun evening!

This morning, we went to see Auntie Jia at work so that Mommy and Daddy could get their eyes checked.

There was a small chair and table with puzzles to keep her busy.

She also played dress-up with her jewelry and entertained the front office staff.

Then, while we waited for Daddy to pick out his new glasses, Janie got her first impromptu exam. She sat in the chair that goes up and down and identified some pictures and letters on the wall. So far, it looks like her vision is functional with both eyes together.

She wouldn’t keep the eye cover on long enough to test her eyes individually so that will do for now. I’m sure she’ll need glasses eventually because it’s in her genes but I’m glad it’s not for a little while longer.

We spent the greater part of today in Foster City and Redwood City. It started out with brunch at Chow Down and Janie was so excited to see Auntie Jia.

The next stop was Bed Bath & Beyond where Janie was free as a bird in the store and a little too energetic for my taste.

Then we went to Costco to buy some new tires for the car and Janie loved climbing and crawling along this metal bench.

We then took a walk around Auntie and Uncle’s neighborhood and Janie took a good nap in the stroller.

She woke up in time to check out this cute house that was for sale. No, we’re not moving – just taking a look to get an idea of the housing market.

For dinner, we had Korean tofu soup and Janie got to have her favorite purple rice, tofu, and some of Daddy’s kimchi fried rice.

Some of it was a little spicy but she was able to handle it like a champ.

We were able to squeak in a quick trip to the zoo before it closed.

In just one hour, Janie still managed to see the giraffes, penguins, tigers, bears and flamingos!

She also said “hello” to the baby elephant statue.

Here she is on her very first trip to the SF Zoo. She has grown so much!

Then it was time to meet up with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason, who were both in the city this afternoon. On the drive over to Japantown, Janie polished off the broccoli and pasta in her container. This kid really worked up an appetite!

She was so happy to see her auntie and uncle that evening. What a special treat!

For dinner, she got some California rolls and a taste of what everyone else was eating.

What a fun and exciting Saturday evening!

After a fun afternoon at the Ferry Plaza, Janie headed down to the Muni station for ride on the train.
She likes to wave at the trains that go by.

She just loves to ride the train.

We got off at the Caltrain Station so that we could stop at Safeway before going home.

She wandered around on foot and had such a good time seeing the produce up-close.

On our walk back to the house, Janie got a ride on Uncle Jason’s arm. She likes the “perch position”. Fun for her but tiring for Uncle.

After our snacks, we went for a walk inside the Ferry Plaza Marketplace. This lobster looked like he was waving to her.

At Sur la Table, Janie had fun wandering and exploring.

With the crowd being lighter at this later time of day, Janie got to run free inside. She also toted around her bubbles.
Here she is running through the crowd. She also stops to ask where Auntie Jia went.

She knew exactly where the ice cream shop was and found Daddy and Uncle Jason waiting in line to order.

She was so excited to have some ice cream on such a warm day.

She got her very own cone with a little bit of ice cream put inside.

This time, she went straight for the bottom of the cone and took a big bite.

After Janie’s nap, we went out to the Embarcadero Center to get a snack. She had her first taste of unagi (eel) in a tasty little onigilly. (handwrapped brown rice snack). She loved it and wouldn’t share with Mommy.

Afterward, we went across the street to Market Bar to hang out in the sun with some more snacks.

She happily played with her toys and read Brown Bear to everyone.

Here she is being the teacher and showing everyone the pages.

Here she is playing peek-a-boo with Auntie Jia. I love her laugh.

In the afternoon, Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason came over. We rode the bus to Chinatown and Janie got to ride on Daddy’s back for part of the way.

We stopped at the bakery for some snacks and Janie picked out these sesame cookies.
We stopped at a tea shop to pick up something to drink and then enjoyed our snacks and tea on the sidewalk. Janie found a fun little obstacle course and went around and around saying “circle”.

We walked down Grant Street to Union Square and Janie got another ride.

What a funny face.

At St. Mary’s Square, we stopped for a little playground time.

This slide was fast and fun!

At Crate and Barrel, Janie lounged on one of the couches on display. Aaah…

We then took her to the Disney Store where she saw lots of Elsa and Anna dolls.

The top floor had a coloring area.

“Look what I colored!”

We also found a sign that we should probably have in our house.

At the Apple Store, Janie played with the iPads on display.

Then she had Ramen for dinner.

She always makes noodles look so yummy.

Then for the third time this weekend, Janie got to ride the train again on the way home.
