First Play Date

This afternoon we met up with Auntie Ranee and Little Sophie who just moved back to California from NYC.

It was so much fun to watch the two little cheeksters “play” together.  Janie is sitting just well enough to hold a toy and Sophie (almost exactly 4 months older) was showing off her mad sitting and rolling skillz.

As a therapist (and mommy), I loved seeing their two different ways of sitting side-by-side in their hoodies.  Janie’s still using the kickstand approach while Sophie’s upright and hands-free.

They “shared” the toys that Sophie brought and had some Tummy Time together too.

Here’s a photo of them looking like they’re having a great conversation – maybe sharing stories about how they drive their parents crazy in the early mornings.

Sophie was so curious that she would get really close to Janie’s face to get a better look.

At one point, she leaned in and gave her a smooch and got a taste of Janie’s sweater too.

Janie looks like she was getting roughed up by Sophie but she was fine.

Afterward, they both went down for a nap in their strollers making it the perfect end to their first of many play days to come.

G-raff moves

Janie’s gotten pretty good with manipulating G-raff around to get to all her appendages and then back to the pacifier.  It’s fun to watch her use it in so many ways.  Not only does she suck on the pacifier but chews on it now too.  Maybe this will help once she starts getting teeth later on. And look how good she’s sitting up with support from the couch! That’s my girl!

Carrots for Koa

Janie learned how to give baby carrots to Koa today.  As she held the carrot in her hand, it seemed like she wanted it for herself.  Don’t worry, Janie.  You’ll get carrots soon enough.

Koa knew how to wait for it.  Koa’s been doing this for many years with all the babies he’s hung out with including Cole, Jack, Reese, and Rowan.  Now it’s Janie’s turn.

He got to sniff the carrot first.

Then it when it was ok, he gently took it from her.

Here’s a video of their interaction.

Janie’s First Video

Week 7 Early OB Ultrasound
One year ago, we met Little Janie for the first time.  It was at a doctor’s appointment to confirm that she was actually growing inside me.  She was only 6 weeks, 6 days gestational age but already had little limb buds that would later grow into strong arms and legs and a little beating heart that sounded really strong when we heard it for the first time.  Click here if you can’t see the video below.

I feel so lucky and blessed to have such a healthy baby one year later.

Happy Baby

Janie was in a good mood this afternoon.  Here she is giving me a big smile after her diaper change.

She also had a good time looking at herself in the front-facing camera on my phone and making spit bubbles. Daddy was taking a nap so this was a good quiet activity.  Click here if you can’t see the video above.

Apparently my funny faces are actually funny to her. I love seeing her laugh.  Click here if you can’t see the video above.

Storytime

Janie had storytime with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason this evening.

Uncle Jason seemed to enjoy reading some of her books too.

Here’s storytime in action.  Click here if you can’t view the video above.
