After breakfast, Janie and Keenan met up at the aquarium.  It has been 21 months since we brought her here the first time and it was fun to see how much she’s changed and grown.

It was fun to see her exploring the grounds on foot.

IMG_3362

This kid looks so grown-up sometimes.

She found her pockets and strolled around while we waited for Keenan to arrive.

These kids had fun causing trouble together.  Monkey see, Monkey do, right?!

Afterward, we had snack time on the lawn under the shade.  Keenan shared his tasty goldfish crackers.  How appropriate.

Meanwhile, Daddy and Uncle Kevin went to Rainbow Drive-in to pick up lunch.

IMG_3410

Janie took a long nap in the stroller while the rest of us ate at the park.

Breakfast Bacon!

IMG_3335

This morning, Janie had her morning milk with GG on her floor towel.  Once Daddy was up, we walked over to one of our favorite breakfast spots: eggs n things!!  There’s usually a big wait but somehow we got seated within 10 minutes.  Amazing.  IMG_3336

We sat upstairs and Janie did a good job keeping herself entertained.

IMG_3341

It was also where I discovered that she could recognized some lowercase letters on her placemat.

I guess she really learned a great deal with Auntie Krissy the other day at the park.  She recognizes u, s, o, and t so far.  She also thinks the letter i looks like the number one.

IMG_3345

Janie also has a keen love for bacon.  So much that she didn’t want to have any of mommy’s tasty waffle.

IMG_3346

What’s better than bacon?!  TWO pieces!!

Sunday afternoon

IMG_3251

After the beach, Janie took a long nap at the Moana.  When she woke up, she was in a great mood and was also pretty hungry.IMG_3262

She had a little pineapple while she waited for her food to arrive.

IMG_3285

From the beach bar, she got a nice kiddie crudite complete with fruit, veggies, and peanut butter.  So cool!

IMG_3271

Afterward, she enjoyed her very own mochi ice cream for the first time.

IMG_3281

It was yummy and oh so messy!

IMG_3297

Back at the hotel, Janie went back to the beach for more sand and sun.  This time Uncle Dayantha joined us.

IMG_3304

IMG_3305

IMG_3312

Then we dried off at the pool and enjoyed the sunset.

IMG_3318

Before dinner, we hung out on the couches by the infinity pool again.

IMG_3320

IMG_3323

Janie got some miso soup and soba for dinner.  Lucky girl!

Morning Beach

IMG_3217

This morning it was pouring but then it suddenly stopped and it was sunny again by 10am.  Mommy and Janie made it down the street to the Waikiki Beach Wall.  It was the perfect meeting spot for these tykes because the wall calms the waves before it hits the shore.

IMG_3222

Janie was excited to play in the sand again and we rented an umbrella (Thanks Uncle Roy!) to shade us from the sun.

IMG_3220

IMG_3218

Scooping and throwing wet sand was a fun game she played for a bit.

IMG_3223

IMG_3225

She was so happy just scooping and dumping the sand into the bucket as well.

Making sand soup is so much fun when you’re not scared of Mr. Ocean!

IMG_3229

Here are the kids enjoying the view with a bag of chips.  Life looks pretty good right now.

IMG_3233

Daddy showed up a little later and we all went into the water.  It was Janie’s first time in the ocean and she did great!

DCIM100GOPRO

At first she just wanted to cling to Daddy but then she was brave enough to sit in the floatie and play.

IMG_3238

Hooray to a successful day at the beach and in the ocean!!

Auntie Yoon’s Wedding

IMG_3087

In the afternoon, we walked to the Hale Koa Hotel and hopped on a shuttle bus that took us to the ceremony.  Janie fell asleep on the walk over and continued to sleep on Daddy’s lap.  All that fun this morning must have wiped her out.

DSC_4764

Once we arrived at the Country Club, she woke up refreshed and ready to play.

DSC_4755

She even posed for a few photos.

IMG_3094

The ceremony was very short and she watched it from Daddy’s shoulders.

IMG_3099

Afterward, they served punch and she got to have some.  Keenan looks like he was waiting for his turn to sip.

IMG_3108

Buddy Keenan was there and after sharing a hug, they jumped and ran around until the bus returned to take us back to the wedding hotel.

DSC_4812

DSC_4814

Take a look at her jumping!

DSC_4821

These two had such a fun time together.

IMG_3116

Back on the bus, she was wide awake to take in all the sights.

IMG_3120

She had fun sitting next to Daddy and was surprised to find Mommy behind her.

IMG_3123

There was so much to see!!

IMG_3132

Back at the hotel, she got to say “hello” to Auntie Yoon.

IMG_3136

That bouquet is heavy!

IMG_3144

We all had a snack by the beach and Janie got some of Auntie Krissy’s fries.

IMG_3149

Andrew tried to share his oatmeal.

IMG_3152

He didn’t look too happy with the little spy standing behind him.

IMG_3209

For the reception/dinner, Auntie Yoon made arrangements for a nanny to watch Janie, Keenan, and Andrew.  She slept the whole time and even when we brought her downstairs at 9:00.  She woke up when the reception was all over so she was able to change into her pjs.  This photo (above) is Janie hitching a ride back to the hotel with Daddy.

Waikiki Beach

IMG_3035

This morning before the wedding, Janie played and played until the very last minute.  Her first stop was the beach.  I think yesterday’s experience with Mr. Ocean was positive enough for her to walk right out onto the sand without a single whimper.

IMG_3042

So we sat by the water and had some pineapple and spam musubi for breakfast.

IMG_3051

Once she was done eating, she happily played in the sand with waves crashing in front of her.

IMG_3056

With it being only 8am, we almost had the whole beach to ourselves.  It was a nice quiet morning at the beach.  Mommy was so proud of her progress with Mr. Ocean.

IMG_3054

After the beach, we went back to the hotel room to wake up Daddy.  We made a little spot for her on a towel where she enjoyed a snack and some Blue’s Clues.

IMG_3057

Uncle Huy came by that morning and we had coffee by the Infinity Pool before grabbing an early lunch.

IMG_3069

Then it was back to the beach again and Janie actually stepped into the waves with Daddy today!!

IMG_3072

What a big girl!!  She was able to stay calm even with the bigger ones that went higher than her knees.

IMG_3080

Here’s a video clip of some of the action.

IMG_3084

Just before going back up to the hotel room to wash up for the wedding, Janie went for a dip in the pool with Uncle Huy.

Magic Island

20140427-131740.jpg

Auntie Yoon threw a big BBQ today. Janie slept on our walk to Ala Moana Beach Park and woke up in time to play with everyone.

20140427-125903.jpg

We also had a breakthrough today at Magic Island Beach. Janie actually played in the water and sand and enjoyed it!

20140427-130041.jpg

This girl was just loving the water and sand.

20140427-130519.jpg

20140427-132637.jpg

This makes Mommy so happy.

20140427-130713.jpg

Lunch included lots of noodles and Portuguese sausage.

20140427-130815.jpg

She also played with Keenan and Andrew.

20140427-130941.jpg

Later that evening, Janie slept through the Post-BBQ/Pre-Wedding Celebration at Uncle Bo’s but woke up for a little karaoke. When she couldn’t take the noise anymore, she looked at me and said “all done”. We were home by 11:30.

Before the BBQ

20140427-123244.jpg

This infinity pool is usually for grown ups only but Janie and Mommy go in the early morning before it opens.

20140427-123509.jpg

Today’s breakfast by the pool was oatmeal and dried blueberries. Yum.

20140427-123826.jpg

After eating, Janie played in the water fountain a bit.

20140427-124151.jpg

We also went to say hello to Mr. Ocean. The nice man at the pool gave Janie gave her a bucket for the beach too. She liked carrying it around while we walked along the shore.

20140427-124454.jpg

While we waited for Daddy to wake up, she watched some Blue’s Clues while Mommy tidied up. She looks like such a big kid here.

20140427-124855.jpg

Later that morning, we went to McDonald’s for a spam platter. Janie went right for the Spam. She’s been calling it bacon on this trip.

20140427-125140.jpg

Before the BBQ, we hung out on the couches by the pool and Janie was up to her usual hijinks.

20140427-125259.jpg

This included using her calculator to make fun of Auntie Yoon’s giant cell phone.

Pool Day

20140427-080335.jpg

We rented a cabana by the pool for the day and Janie had so much fun. In the morning, we had almost the whole pool to ourselves. This is her in the toddler pool. It’s only 1 1/2 ft deep.

20140427-080458.jpg

Here she is in the bigger pool with Daddy.

20140427-080719.jpg

This kid is having such a fun time here in Hawaii.

20140427-080851.jpg

Her favorite game is walking along the edge of the wading area and having a grown up follow her from the deeper side.

20140427-081152.jpg

After lunch and a nap, Janie invited her friends over to the cabana for some fun by the pool. She played with Uncle Roy, Auntie Holly, and Andrew. She took turns with Andrew in going through the tunnel slide.

20140427-081459.jpg

Then they chilled out on the pool chairs. Boy, these toddlers have it good.

20140427-081626.jpg

It certainly was an epic pool day for Janie.

20140427-081734.jpg

She fell on Daddy’s chest at sunset, slept through dinner again, and didn’t wake up until morning.

5am

20140425-060033.jpgJanie was up at 5am today so she went downstairs with Mommy to run around a bit. Our first stop was the infinity pool. It’s so pretty at this time of day.

20140425-060051.jpgShe also shared a spam musubi with Mommy by the pool.

20140425-060151.jpgThen it was time to explore. Here she is with the sand sculpture in the lobby.

20140425-060256.jpgIt’s like she has the hotel to herself at this hour.

20140425-060454.jpgThe koi pond was cool!

20140425-060535.jpgAaah…this is nice.

20140425-060627.jpgThis water fountain was fun to watch…

20140425-060809.jpg…and touch.

20140425-060910.jpgShe could hardly wait to go back in the pool this morning!
