Watch us grow!

Peanut turned 1 month old today so I took some portraits of the little guy.

This morning, Peanut was really fussy each time I put him down. So, into the carrier he went and that was when he fell asleep for a monster nap. This allowed me to then tackle Janie’s morning needs including doing her hair. She wanted a braid like Elsa from Frozen. This was the best I could do. She loved it.

It’s hard to see but Peanut has grown some eyebrows!

His cheeks are also filling in quite nicely.

His cheeks are growing in nicely this week. His eys are also clearing up quite a bit.

He’s also wearing his onesie with crickets all over it. Thanks, Auntie Ishya!

We got an email from family in Vancouver over the weekend and we have a wedding to attend in October now! That means Mr. Peanut will need a passport. So, Mama tried taking his passport photo today. Here are some of the outtakes in black and white. The real passport photo will be in color and it’s still a work in progress. There are so many criteria and these are just a few of them: both ears showing, chin showing, looking forward, eyes open, and mouth closed. Sheesh.

Here is the photo I decided to use:

He’s pretty serious in the photo but it meets all the passport requirements.

This baby has so many expressions already. It looks like he’s yawning but he just wanted to open his mouth.

I caught a photo of both dimples today. The left dimple is just like Uncle Jason’s!

And here he is looking content while Mama was talking to him. He seems to be able to give eye contact for brief moments now. Not sure how well he can see but at least I know that he’s able to track movements and sounds.

Last night was surprisingly calm. Peanut slept most of the night and I had to wake him up to feed. My milk was started to come in at the 1am feeding and he was pretty satisfied after that. I actually overslept until 6am before I realized I needed to feed him again. Again, he was still snoozing and I had to wake him.

The morning was spent mostly with Dada and slept so comfortably on his chest.

Meanwhile, someone from the nursery came to do his hearing screening and he was able to stay asleep for the test. He passed! Hooray for being able to hear!

After another feeding, he took a nap with Mama in the bed. It was good to have him rest before the arrival of his big sister later in the morning.

Look at those giant feet!

After Mama’s medical appointment, we took the train straight to the mall for lunch.

The train ride home was crowded because of the day game but Janie was comfy in her stroller with the milk that Mama bought for her at the store.

With a full tummy, a nice warm bath, and some antihistamine for the multiple mosquito bites from last night, she was out for a long nap. Poor baby has 4 bites on just her face alone. I think she got at least 10 bites total last night. Hopefully this warm weather will subside soon so we can sleep with the windows closed again. We even put up mosquito netting over the open window but I guess one sneaky skeeter snuck in last night.

This morning was spent going to 99 Ranch Market to pick up a bunch of stuff that we needed for this week’s meals.

Janie got to of her favorite things: dried shredded pork and Pocky. She wanted to try the strawberry-flavored ones tonight. By the way, that’s a giant mosquito bite on her left arm. She got eaten alive last night when we had to leave the windows open. It’s been so hot up here! The AC at the market was a nice relief for all of us.

Janie also got a hold of Mama’s phone again and started snapping away.

I like seeing her perspective of the world.

After we finished shopping, we went next door to have some pho for lunch. This kid loves soup!

When we asked Janie what she wanted for dinner, she said “rice and beans and chicken”. So, off to Chipotle we went for our Friday dinner outing!

This week, she’s learning how to eat with a fork and spoon the way Thai people do. It’s close but she’s gonna need more practice. When Yai saw the video, she said “good enough for now”.

This kid cheesed it up for the camera and then proceeded to take photos of both Mommy and Daddy.

When we got home, she was a little cuckoo. Shortly after this photo, she was in bed and lights out after a bedtime story with Dada. Her hair looks so long in this photo!
