River Otter

IMG_0272

After a good nap, we took Janie and Alice to the Aquarium of the Bay.

IMG_0279

The main attraction was the river otter exhibit.  They were all napping in the den but luckily one came out to greet us.  Janie kept calling it a “go-go” (dog) and there was no correcting it today.

At the exit, we had to walk through the gift shop and Janie spotted the otter toy on display and was in love.

It was so soft and huggable that she just couldn’t get enough.  Yai caved and bought her her very own otter friend.

Alice got a smaller version of one too.

Here she is entertaining Alice with Mr. Otter.  I tried to catch this on video but my trigger finger messed up.  Luckily I caught a photo of Alice laughing at Janie’s antics.

Thanks for my new friend, Yai!!

Pier 39

IMG_0240

After breakfast, we walked to Pier 39. Well, the grown-ups walked and Janie ran.

Pier 39 Slide a video by beakatude on Flickr.

There’s a Janie-sized playground there and she had fun going up and down all by herself.  She has her very own way of going down the slide lately.

IMG_0242

All the Spring flowers are on display at Pier 39 and Janie liked sniffing the flowers.

This one was too tall for her so she pulled it down to get a good whiff.

IMG_0246

The next stop was the other side of the pier where the sealions were hanging out.

IMG_0248

We brought Yai here when she was about 3 months so they took another picture together.

IMG_0254

This time around, she could actually see the sealions and giggled each time one would pop its head out of the water.

She also had a good time hanging out with Cousin Alice on the bench.  She tried to give her a high 5 but giving her a hug was easier.

So cute!!

Here is Janie and Yai in front of Alcatraz.

She’s gotten so big since the first time they took this picture.

Waffle Time!

IMG_0216

We got up early and headed out to the Farmer’s Market to meet up with Cousin Alice.

IMG_0224

It was so fun to have the whole family together for breakfast.

IMG_0226

Janie got some of the Belgian waffle that the grown-ups had.  Yum yum!

IMG_0232

Janie and Alice also compared elephant friends.

IMG_0260

We finally got a picture of the matching cousins today.  So cute!!

Finding Alu

IMG_0198

Cousin Alice, Uncle Johnny, and Auntie Joy arrived today so we took a ride on Muni to Downtown to find them.

IMG_0200

Janie rode the escalator up from the train station with Yai and walked part of the way up Powell to the hotel.

IMG_0201

In the hotel, Janie gave Uncle a big hug in the lobby.

IMG_0202

He took us up to the room and we found Alu sleeping on the Heavenly Bed.

IMG_4970

It was a good thing because it looked like this kid needed a nap too so she snoozed for about an hour there while the grown-ups hung out for a bit.

IMG_0206

On the way back home, Janie sat next to Yai on the train like a big girl.

Yai!

IMG_0188

This evening, Yai arrived from Cerritos and as soon as she walked in the door, Janie yelled “YAI!” and gave her a big hug.

IMG_0175

They called Ta, who was still at home and then Cousin Alice called on the other line.

IMG_0177

At one point it was a 3-way FaceTime call!

IMG_0183

Later in the evening, she watched Yai play slots on her iPad and then learned where to touch the Spin button.

IMG_0185

IMG_0187

Fun times.

IMG_0179

Before bed, they read books and just hung out together.

What a special evening!

2nd Trip to Disneyland

DSC_4166

Janie went to Disneyland again on Christmas Eve.  She was able to do more, see more, and understand more this year.

DSC_4142

In the morning, we went to Fantasyland to get her on the Dumbo ride!  Luckily it was early enough that she could tolerate standing in the line and seemed to be ok with the ride itself.

DSC_4127

She did surprisingly well with waiting in line all day.  We can’t bring the stroller into the line and she was pretty good about staying close-by and not causing too much trouble.

IMG_8096

Here she is watching the three kids behind us in the Monsters Inc. line.  She was pretty amused by them and tried to copy their moves.

DSC_4163

Now that she’s walking, running, and climbing, Disneyland was so much more interesting this year.

DSC_4156

She got a lot of practice on the stairs everywhere.  Up and down…up and down…

IMG_8051

It was Baby Alice’s first trip and they were twinsies!!

IMG_8066

There was so much to see and hear!!  It was so cute to see her waving to the people on the steamboat as they passed by.

IMG_8094

The fountain at the Cozy Cone was pretty fun to watch too.

IMG_8074

All the activity and excitement really makes a little girl work up an appetite.

IMG_8082

She got her very first kid’s meal and gobbled up all the broccoli.  Spaghetti is always a hit too.

IMG_8110

It was also a warm 80 degrees so she was treated with some frozen lemonade.

IMG_8118

For dinner, she loved the green beans and fried chicken at the Plaza Inn.

IMG_9075

Janie met Mommy’s friends Chip and Dale today.  She was a little unsure but managed to fake a smile.

52146780000

She also met Minnie Mouse and actually smiled and waved to her.

IMG_2755

We also took Janie on the Finding Nemo Submarine ride again this year and she did SO much better.  Some of the explosions and stuff startled her but she didn’t cry like last year.  The bubbles and fish were just enough to keep her entertained.  Good job, Baby!

DSC_4193

She liked the lights at It’s a Small World but was pretty tired and sleepy by the time we got onto the ride.

IMG_8139

What a fun day with the family!!  Merry Christmas, Everyone!
