On Saturday evening, Mommy and Daddy went to a wedding and Janie stayed overnight at Yai and Ta’s house on her own. In the afternoon, she had a tea party with Uncle Johnny and Alice.
She also ate at the kitchen counter with Ta. She liked all the food they gave her.
Later in the evening when the weather cooled off a bit, the whole family went to the park to feed the ducks.
Looked like she had fun feeding the ducks today.
Before heading home, we stopped at Dennis the Menace Park.
It has lots of fun slides and places to climb.
This rolly slide was pretty funny.
They also had swings and the cousins played side-by-side today. Here’s a video:

Before climbing back in the car, Janie went to see the train. She really wanted to ride it but it was only there for show.
Then it was time to say goodbye to everyone. Here she is saying “Sawasdee” to Yai and Ta.
On Friday night, Janie slept on the pull-out bed underneath a bunkbed that Mommy slept on. She looked like such a big girl sleeping on a big bed all by herself. This was Mommy’s view of her from above.
Once she woke up, there was time to play with the family before we had to pack up and leave.
Before heading out, Janie took a picture with Cousin Alice and her family too.
After checking out of the house, we stopped for breakfast at a local cafe.
It was totally not intentional but Janie and Yai were in matching outfits today!
Janie went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the first time today. Our first stop was the sea otter exhibit.
Next was the Splash Zone with lots of penguins, slides, riding toys, and a tunnel with fishies inside.
Later, we went to see the jellies and the new “tentacles” exhibit. The cuttlefish were her favorite.
Before lunch, we got a few good photos of Janie with the grandparents and the rest of the family.
This one cracks me up every time I see it.
We had lunch at Johnny Rockets and then it was time for a nap.
We all went back to the aquarium but Janie didn’t see any of it in the afternoon.
This morning, Janie woke up refreshed and started the day with some artwork on the window. Uncle Johnny gave her some fishie stickers to add to her drawings. Yai helped out while Alice tried to join in on the fun.
After dinner, we went to visit Mr. Ocean. Janie was super excited and said “play sand too!” Unfortunately, when we arrived, she had forgotten how loud the waves are and needed some extra time to warm up to it.
Alice was super excited too but has been to the beach much more often than Janie.
Eventually, she was able to walk on the sand with Ta and asked to go toward the ocean.
We got some nice photos of her with Ta and Yai. She was relaxed enough to smile and cheese-it-up for the camera.
We also managed to get a family photo taken too. We don’t get many of these.
We got a photo of the grandparents and their two grandkids.
Alice loved giving Janie wet kisses. Funny girl.
What a fun evening at the beach. I’m also glad Janie warmed up to Mr. Ocean.
When we arrived at the house, Janie was so happy to see everyone.
She brought some toys to share with Cousin Alice and they had a nice in-person reunion – so much more fun than FaceTime.
Before dinner, Janie played teacher and read “Brown Bear” to the family. The grandparents were so amazed at how much more she could talk and do.
She also explored the playhouse out back in the rental house. It was complete with art table, reading chairs, books, toys, and a loft with a twin bed.
On our way back to SF, we had to stop at Yai and Ta’s house to drop off the stroller we borrowed for the weekend. Alice was there for the day and they hung out for a brief moment together.
Again, this could have been a really nice photo but Janie REALLY didn’t want to take a photo this morning. Too bad…
Now that Alice is sitting up and crawling now, these two kiddos can actually play together.
Janie was good about sharing with her little cousin and Alice just watched and chewed on the toys she was given.
They also had snack together on the floor. There was chicken and pasta for Janie and sweet potato puree for Alice.
She also got a big hug from Uncle Johnny.
It’s almost impossible getting these two to look at the camera at the same time.
