On the way home today, Janie was on her GG phone gabbing away. It turns out she was having a conversation with me. Funny girl.
up in the air
Janie and Mommy had a tea party outside this afternoon and she was loving all the stuff flying overhead.
scribbling and drawing
I noticed that Janie has a more refined grasp on the crayon today. She’s placing the crayon in her fingers so that she’s using a grasp that almost resembles a static tripod. This OT Mama is so proud of her 2-year-old right now.
She’s still into drawing oceans. She seems to have a love-hate relationship with Mr. Ocean.
Here she is trying to draw fish in the ocean that she’s made. There’s so much going on in that little brain of hers.
new giraffe
In preparation for daycare, Janie got a new giraffe for nap time.
It’s a really soft blanket with a giraffe’s head on one corner.
She loved it and carried around for at least 20 minutes. I hope it’ll be comforting for her next week at school.
A new phrase for her his month is “I like it.” She says it in this video.
Ferry Plaza
After our snacks, we went for a walk inside the Ferry Plaza Marketplace. This lobster looked like he was waving to her.
At Sur la Table, Janie had fun wandering and exploring.
With the crowd being lighter at this later time of day, Janie got to run free inside. She also toted around her bubbles.
Here she is running through the crowd. She also stops to ask where Auntie Jia went.
She knew exactly where the ice cream shop was and found Daddy and Uncle Jason waiting in line to order.
She was so excited to have some ice cream on such a warm day.
She got her very own cone with a little bit of ice cream put inside.
This time, she went straight for the bottom of the cone and took a big bite.
Hanging out
Janie was hanging out with Big GG this afternoon and it was so funny watching her talk to her and also recite what she’s learned about how dangerous cars can be. This video has a lot of random phrases but it should give you an idea of how much she’s talking.
Scooping
Here’s some raw footage of Janie at play with her tea set, balls, and stuffed animals. Ever since we made pizza, she’s been obsessed with cooking.
Making Pizza
Janie had her first real cooking activity today and helped make pizza for lunch with Mommy. We took a video of the process and I edited it to a shorter length for viewing.
She was a pretty good helper until her favorite toppings came into play.
She had lots of fun and enjoyed the pizza when it was all done.
Here’s a follow-up video a few days later (7/12/14) of her reenacting the cooking activity with her tea set. She also wanted to wear her bib as an apron.
Thursday Library Time
Mirian was sick today so Mommy stayed home and took Janie to her usual library time on Thursdays. We got there 15 minutes early and there was already a line outside!
As soon as we got into the room, Janie was so excited. She ran in and plopped herself in the middle of the rug and was ready to sing along. We brought the GoPro to capture some of her favorite songs.
This is their “Hello Song”. Janie sings this all the time at home. She’s in the blue and white polkadots in the center of the rug.
“Itsy Bitsy Spider” is another favorite. She actually knows how to make the spider go up with her fingers. Amazing.
For “Twinkle Twinkle”, she moved closer to Mommy. Now we can kind of hear her singing.
Of course, we can’t forget the all-time favorite “ABC Song”. This kid is ready for preschool!!
At the end, they played with scarves and sing the “Peek-a-Boo Song”. Now I know what she’s doing with the tissues at home.
After all the singing is done, the toys come out and the kids get to play for another 20 minutes. It’s a pretty good program and it’s completely free. I guess it’s worth having to call every Wednesday and Friday to sign her up. Glad I was able to observe what she’s doing in “school”. 🙂
To the mall!
We went to the mall this evening for dinner and to walk around a bit. As usual, the train ride was lots of fun.
Janie has been really interested in the letters all around her.
We took her downtown without a stroller this evening so she LOVED browsing the stores on foot. Sur la Table was her favorite. There were so many things to see and touch!
She picked out this chicken egg time and walked around with it for a while. Luckily, she was able to put it away when it was time to go.
We bought her a tiny spoon for her dinners at restaurants. It’s the perfect size and weight for her.
Riding the escalator is always a fun treat.
“Hm…which shirt do I want to buy?”
As we waited for our train to arrive, Janie waved to all the extra trains that went by.
She also waved to the train we were going to board.
The ride home on the train was fun but it was also close to bedtime. So she pretended to sleep. What a silly girl.
Eventually, she actually chilled out on Daddy’s lap just before we had to get off.
