Mama picked up Peanut at school after her run so he had to walk home. It took about 25 minutes to get home but he was able to walk the whole way. He also insisted on wearing his backpack and carrying his lunch bag on his own.
Flight Home
We flew home today it was an empty flight! Yay!
Peanut got his own seat and Dada and Janie got an empty middle seat for their snacks and drinks.
So many parties…
Today, our playground was bustling with activity from morning until evening. There were 4 birthday parties in a row and Janie inadvertently attending 3 of them just because she was outside playing with Gavin. You can see them playing under the tree (shady part off to the right of the playground).
They used the tree stump as a snail farm. They gathered leaves, tore up small pieces, and “fed” them to the snails that Gavin had brought over.
Here is Janie singing “Happy Birthday” to neighbor Nadia during her party. She welcomed Janie to the party and gave her a cupcake and goodie bag too. I guess it’s understood that if you throw a party at the park that you should have a few extras for the neighborhood kids. Good to know for our party next week…
Peanut also joined in on some of the activity. He also rode the big bumpy slide on his own today for the first time. it was faster than he expected but still managed to make a smooth landing.
The spiral slide is still a bit hit with him too.
At one party, they had a bunch of beach balls out on the lawn. In watching this video, we realized that Peanut is pretty steady on his feet lately. We also love how protective and helpful Janie can be to her little brother.
Paragon
For dinner this evening, we went to Paragon, another one of our usual restaurants in the neighborhood.
The nice server took a family photo of us at the restaurant.
Peanut walked part of the way home today and looked like such a big boy.
Another haircut
As if getting held down and poked at the hospital wasn’t already bad enough. This afternoon, we took Peanut to Dada’s Supercuts for another haircut. His hair was getting pretty long and shaggy.
While he waited his turn (Dada had an appointment first), he watched Janie play a game on Dada’s phone.
He also entertained himself with a few selfies.
Here is the before and after comparison. He looked like such a big boy after his haircut and we could see his ears again!
He tried to walk home from the shop but he was too slow and clumsy so he got a ride on Dada’s shoulders the rest of the way.
Walking to the Park
Mirian got some videos and photos of the kids at the park today.
These two are so cute together. It’s so fun to see them playing together.
Beresford Park
We drove down to San Mateo to meet up with Auntie Vyl, Rowan, and Isla. There was plenty of room to play and ride so we brought the tricycle and Strider.
This guy rode in the tricycle for the first time and loved it.
The swings were also fun.
He practiced walking on wood chips and level changes.
Janie got some good practice on her Strider and was riding down hills on her own by the end of the afternoon.
The sun is back!
We finally had a clear, sunny day after so much rain. Our Saturday started at Janie’s soccer practice where Peanut had a fun time chasing soccer balls and trying to steal cones off the field.
Then we rode the train down to the Farmers Market where we saw lots of pretty tulips.
Mama and Dada shared a tasty porchetta sandwich and Peanut got a few tastes.
On our way home, we saw the Chinese New Year parade floats drive by on their way to the start. Janie thought she was watching the actual parade and was so excited. Mama and Dada were happy that the 1-minute “parade” was enough for her. How convenient!
Brunch in the Creek
This morning, we went to Walnut Creek for brunch with Sophie, Avia, and Vivian.
Janie packed her Legos and shared with her pals while we waited for the food to arrive.
After our meal, the kids got to run around and play together. Peanut was busy walking up and down the ramp while the girls took a really cute photo together.
We also took a short walk down the Farmers Market before going our separate ways.
House Shopping
We went to Alameda today to take a look at another potential house. We arrived a little early so we took a walk around the neighborhood.
The kids enjoyed exploring the rooms upstairs.
There were lots of hiding places up there.
Peanut also couldn’t get over the stairs. I’m so glad we don’t have any at home right now.
