We are on our way for another day of snowboarding! This time, we are headed to Cypress Mountain, only 40 minutes from downtown.
The kids got their gear and had a group lesson together. They were pretty far out so we didn’t get any photos or videos of the action.
After a morning in the snow, we went to Ellie and Amelia’s grandmother’s house to play and rest. Thanks to Uncle Eric for watching all the kids tonight!!!
This morning, we found a place that serves waffles for breakfast. Yum!
Then we explored downtown for bit.
Peanut’s biggest request was to ride one of the city buses. So, that’s what we did.
We took the bus that stops at Stanley Park and the nice driver let us ride for free!! After looking at the map, Janie chose Beaver Lake as our destination. Luckily it wasn’t far and we found it in a jiffy!
We didn’t see any beavers today but there were plenty of ducks around.
It rained a bit while we were at the park but we made it back to the hotel before it started to snow!
The kids watched from our hotel room window and it was quite a sight to see.
This morning, the kids were so happy to see all the snow in front of Amelia and Ellie’s house. They had a little bit of time to play before we piled into the minivan for a ride up to Squamish to ride the Seat to Sky Gondola.
The gondola took us up the mountain and Peanut was so excited.
At the top, there was a suspension bridge and other places to explore.
Janie drew initials in the snow and asked Mama to take a picture.
They also went down the tubing hill together and Janie kept her eyes closed the whole time.
Peanut was not tall enough to ride so he went to the store for a Canadian maple syrup treat.
He also finished off the timbits before the kids came back. He’s become a BIG FAN of timbits on this trip.
On the drive back down the mountain, the girls fell asleep in the back. Poor Janie became a pillow for Ellie and Amelia.
Janie has the next week off for “Ski Week” so we decided to book a trip up to Vancouver to do some snowboarding and to hang out with family. We all got up early and caught a bus to the airport for our flight to Seattle. The kids were good sports and we had enough time to eat breakfast at the airport before boarding.
The kids enjoyed time of their iPads and we had a smooth flight.
The next leg of the trip was to pick up our rental car in Seattle and drive 2.5 hours to Surrey, which is only 15 minutes from the USA/Canada border.
When we arrived, Auntie Amy had a spread of food prepared for us, including fresh oysters and uni!
Once Amelia and Ellie came home from school, the fun really started!
Vancouver International Airport has these funny stuffed animals throughout. Peanut was not amused when Mama stopped the stroller each time to take a photo of him with them.
“Keep moving, Mama!!”
“That’s better.”
Here’s Peanut waiting for the plane to take off. He’s one happy baby.
For the first half, he sat quietly chewing and playing with his pacifier.
During the second half, Peanut slept and Janie watched “Frozen” on her iPad.
We made it back to SFO without any crying or fussing. Both kids did great!
We didn’t have room for the chocolate eggs in our luggage so Janie got to open the three that Mama bought from the store the other day.
It’s funny how she’s perfectly happy with just unwrapping the foil and popping open the egg. She had no problems throwing away the chocolate egg and putting the yellow egg in her backpack without opening it.
