Janie and Ta played together and Janie showed off her new ability to stand while holding onto a wobbly surface.
She also practiced making silly faces.
We love Fridays!
I love Friday nights. With two whole work-free days ahead, we’re all more relaxed and Janie seems to be more playful too. Look at all the different expressions I got in just about a minute of time.
This is her “HEY!” expression. She’s almost got the whole waving thing down but it’s not consistent yet.
This is Janie being up to no good. I think she was trying to move the ottoman here.
This is Janie’s curious look. She heard Daddy pounding the chicken breast in the kitchen and tried to see where it was coming from.

Janie’s 41 weeks old today! Janie’s been on the move this week and has been harder to keep up with. She’s also trying to stand on her own now too.
We now have to put her in the “baby jail” aka her pack n play when we can’t be right next to her. She usually doesn’t mind as long as she can stand and see us. This week she also got to ride the carousel at the Children’s Creativity Museum and had noodles for the first time.
Tent
I made a little tent for Janie in her bed this morning and she loved it. On top of that, she’s also noticing the quilt that’s hanging behind her bed. Lately I’ve been finding her standing there tracing the designs and letters with her little finger.
Slow down, Little One.

Ball-cano!!
Over the weekend, we went to Babies R Us to donate the ladybug bouncer that Janie’s outgrown. After some browsing, we picked up this ball-cano that makes sounds, lights up, and has little balls that roll down the sides. Looks like Janie and Koa are equally interested in it.
Here she is trying to stand on her own.
She likes to test her balance and she’s doing a pretty good job here for the two seconds that it took to take this photo.
What’s cool is that she doesn’t usually fall down on her bottom. She just leans forward and clings onto whatever is in front of her. That’s our sturdy baby!

Blocks
Janie loved Sophie’s blocks so we went to Toys R Us today to get her a set.
They’re even more fun when you’re standing at the couch.
Apparently, they’re very tasty too.
She can also balance them on her head. Neato!
Playing
I love watching Janie play.
She does a pretty good job entertaining herself and Koa keeps her company too.
It’s amazing how these two can really tear up a livingroom in just a few minutes.

Janie is 40 weeks old today! That’s a full-term baby! It’s been almost impossible to get a photo of her sitting still next to Senor Fatty Duck Duck so I resorted to this pose instead. I guess it’s a good example of how much she’s changed this week. All she wants to do is stand up! Forget crawling! This girl is starting to cruise along furniture and I’m sure you’ve also seen her new dance moves too. This little lady should be ready for hula in no time.
Janie also had her 9-month check-up this past week and she’s starting to slim down. The doc said, “She’s back on the chart now at the 87th percentile for weight.” Janie’s also back to a good sleeping schedule. She usually goes to bed around 8 and then wakes up screaming around 9:30. I thought it was weird but I’m hearing from a good friend and our doctor that this happens when babies start moving and doing more. It’s as if she wants to rehearse what she’s learned during the day and also doesn’t want to miss out on stuff. Very interesting. Luckily, she falls back asleep fairly quickly and sleeps through the rest of the night. Whoopee! No more 1 am wake-up calls!
