Peanut had an impromptu Spanish quiz at school today. He knows his colors!
TV Dinner
We had a very low-key Sunday night. Dada set up both kids in the livingroom, turned on Octonauts, and warmed up leftover pizza from yesterday’s dinner.
Surprisingly, Peanut stayed in his chair the whole time, happily ate his chicken, and got big sister’s pizza crust at the end.

In this video, he says his version of thank you and gracias. When he says thank you, it sounds more like “dats”. He JUST started saying “gracias” today and you can barely hear it in this video. I just love watching this emoji interact with his sister.
farm stickers
Janie pulled out her farm stickers this morning for the first time and was excited to see the chicken and baby chicks on the page.

This morning, Janie was singing Los Pollitos and the lyrics are much clearer now.
Morning at the Zoo
Today is the last day of our zoo membership. We left the house in time to get there 10 minutes before it opened and were the first ones to see the giraffes.
Janie was also into speaking Spanish all morning so she kept saying, “buenos dias, jirafas!”
All 6 of them were right up front and eating their breakfast so it was quite a treat so see them all at once.
We also made a pressed penny of the giraffe.
She was so excited to have one, she showed it off to every zoo worker that passed us.
The next animal she wanted to see was the “leon”.
For once, the lion was awake and sitting right up front. What a lucky day!
Janie used her phone to pretend to take a picture of him.
Next was the hippo. He’s usually sleeping underwater and we never get to see him pop his head up but he was wide awake and eating. Janie yelled, “hola, hipopotamo!”
Oh happy day!
Before heading home, we always see the flamingos. We were done within an hour and on our way out, there were crowds and crowds of families and large summer camp groups entering. This was definitely a good morning at the zoo.
Missing school?

It’s her first day of “summer vacation” and she’s been speaking Spanish to me all day. Maybe she misses school. Sometimes Janie’s “teacher mode” gets a little annoying but it’s good to see what she’s learned. Today, she was pretending to be Tia Irma and leading the morning lesson of the vowels and ABCs in Spanish.

This evening, while she was eating chicken, she started singing “Los Pollitos Dicen” (the little chicks say). She knows more words to the song than I thought!
Tuesday night
This evening, Janie rode her scooter to dinner. She had to go uphill for most of the way.
While waiting for dinner, Janie played with her flashcards and taught Dada colors, numbers, and animals in Spanish.

She loved her soup and “carrot noodles”. This is how she was eating her long noodles today.
She got it!!

All week, Janie has been forgetting/leaving out Friday when she recites the days of the week in Spanish. This evening, Janie finally got it and repeated it over and over at dinner. The server at the restaurant was impressed too. We were so proud of her and she was clearly proud of herself too.
Days of the Week

This evening on our ride home, Janie started reciting the days of the week in Spanish. Amazing. She doesn’t even know her days of the week in English yet! She got all of them except for Friday – Mommy’s favorite day!
