Soda Springs has officially suspending operations until further notice. We were hoping to go back at least one more time with our family pass. Looks like the season’s over for us…so bummed.
Cypress Mountain
We went to Cypress Mountain today and Janie was ready to have a full day of long green runs. We managed to get Peanut a lesson and it turned out to be a private lesson because there were no other kids signed up. What a win!
Peanut’s snowboarding coach had such a great time with him and was impressed by how fearless he was. He said he was so fearless that they spent the whole lesson on the beginner run with a real lift.
After Peanut’s lesson, we all went up the lift together and had fun watching them shred down the hill. Peanut did a lot of crashing but he is so good at getting right back up.
We had a fun day as a family of four. We can’t wait to take them back to Soda Springs again when we get home.
We drove across the Lions Gate Bridge to Downtown Vancouver for dinner.
The kids slept in the car and Peanut kept sleeping at the restaurant.
We met up with Auntie Amy at Fanny Bay Oyster Co. and had a seafood feast.
Mt. Seymour
After lunch, we piled into the minivan and headed up to Mt. Seymour for some afternoon/night snowboarding.
We didn’t get lessons for the kids since the beginner run was a gentle slope with a magic carpet.
We had a fun time but the grown ups were exhausted following the kids around and picking them up.
We went to the lodge for a snack and the kids ate quite a bit.
The sun started setting but the Janie and Amelia were ready to go again. So, Peanut and Ellie stayed with Auntie Amy while Mama and Dada took the girls down the long green run.
They were so excited!
Janie did great making it down on her own and fell only twice. So fun!
Cypress Mountain
It’s Family Day in Canada and President’s Day in the U.S. We went to Cypress Mountain today and it was particularly busy because of the holiday. The kids got geared up and registered for their lessons.
Janie took a higher level class today and learned a lot!
After lessons, Mama and Dada took Janie up the bigger green runs and she had the best time!
Look how grown up she looks!!
It was fun to take her up the really high ski lift.
At the end of the day, everyone was too tired to keep going but Janie begged Mama to take her up a few more times. There was a lot of waiting but she entertained herself with snowballs.
What a fun day on the slopes!!
Ready to Snowboard
One more day!!
This morning, the kids were up early and starting playing right away. They’re so cute with their matching pjs and bed head.
We also made one more trip to Soda Springs for a morning to rides before heading home.
We went straight to the green runs and had a full morning of snowboarding.
Peanut figured out a new way of sliding down the mountain and we laughed the whole way down.
We later met up with Zoe and Maya on the other side and the kids had fun going down the bunny slopes together.
Soda Springs
We were up early and got ready to go snowboarding!
The cabin is so BIG and the kids got to explore a bit before heading out.
Today we hit a milestone. We all went up the ski lift and rode down a green run together as a family!
Janie also went down a green run without falling or stopping for the first time!! What a great day we all had in the snow!!
By the time Mama and Janie were done with their last run, Peanut fell asleep in Dada’s lap. He was beat!
Peanut turns FOUR
Peanut turned 4 today and he has learned and experienced so much this past year.
In August, he started swimming lessons and really enjoyed his new teacher, Coach Jin.
In September, he received his kung fu uniform and started the Little Tiger class. This guy became a big fan of Bruce Lee too.
In October, he went to the dentist and sat for his first set of x-rays and cleaning.
In November, he learned how to spell his name and started drawing the letter T.
In December, we went to Hawaii and he wasn’t afraid of floating around in the ocean or going down the big slide at the hotel. Swimming lessons have paid off.
In January, Peanut got on a snowboard for the first time and LOVED it. He was also not afraid to go down the hill from the moment he got clicked into the board.
In February, we went to Vancouver for the week and he discovered Tim Bits!!! This guy could finish a whole box of 6 doughnut holes all on his own. He also took his first snowboarding lesson.
By March, he was able to write his name and draw figures. He was also finding more interest in coloring.
By April, he was able to write all the letters of the alphabet, could write his last name and fill out a birthday card with Mama helping him with the spelling.
In May, he went to his first baseball game and enjoyed chanting “Let’s Go Oakland!” with the crowd.
In June, he took his first cruise and also visiting Alaska for the first time with his family.
And now it’s July and has turned 4 years old. We have learned that he has a very silly side but also gives the best hugs. In addition to all the things listed above, he had learned to pump a swing, dress himself completely, and has started to sound out letters. He has moved up to the white-black belt class in kung fu and moved up from Starfish to Seahorse in swim. His laugh is infectious and his confidence in life is pretty cool to watch. We love our Peanut and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him this coming year.
Green Run
We are on our way back to Soda Springs for Day 2! This time, Janie is getting her first lift pass to ride the Green Run with Dada!!
Peanut is excited to be back at Planet Kids with Mama.
It’s a much sunnier day today so we bought the kids some snow goggles.
Here’s Mama and Peanut on the shuttle ride to Planet Kids.
Meanwhile, Dada took Janie up a real ski lift for the first time!! So exciting!
Here’s her first run.
Here’s a longer run. Sorry for the shaky video. Dada was also on a snowboard.
Peanut did some snowboarding too but then had some fun playing with the snow too.
What a fun day in the snow!
Soda Springs
We got up early this morning and drove up to Truckee.
The kids were still in their PJs and put on their snow gear when we arrived at the snow park.
There was so much snow and more coming down in flight fluffy balls that looked like styrofoam.
Peanut was so tired by the afternoon and fell asleep on an inner tube.
At the end of the day, we had some tasty ice cream.
