Up until early this week, when you place Janie on the couch, her head rests on the couch (chin pointing upward). This week, I’ve noticed that she’s been bringing her head forward on her own and can balance for a couple seconds at a time before tipping all the way forward or back onto the couch behind her. Look how upright she can sit with trunk support!
Janie has gotten a little chattier this past week. This afternoon, we had a conversation about spit bubbles.

This morning Janie laughed for me again. This time she actually made a little sound.

This morning we took Janie to the doctor for her 2-month check-up. She was a happy camper for most of the appointment and the doctor was, again, impressed with her progress. We were also told that she was ready to stretch her feeds to about 6 ounces every 4 hours and we should shoot for 6-8 hours of sleep through the night. Sheesh…wouldn’t that be great?!
Here are the stats:
Weight: 13 lbs, 8 oz. (95th percentile)
Length: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 38.25 cm
Janie also got some vaccinations today. The first was an oral vaccination. She did ok with that one and didn’t spit up or anything afterward. What a trooper.
Next were the injections. Here’s the first one in the right thigh. Look at how happy she still was during that one. She made a little squeal but it wasn’t too bad.
Here’s the injection in the left thigh. This one made her really cry. Poor baby. It even bled a little. I didn’t realize it until I removed the Band-Aid later this evening and found it soaked in blood. Overall, I was pretty impressed at how quickly she recovered from both shots. Once we picked her up, dressed her, and gave her the pacifier, she was all good and passed out in the car. Doctor said to pick up some Infant Tylenol and to watch out for a fever. So far she’s had no fever but was a little fussier than usual. Good job, Baby Girl!
It’s the second day of summer and although the sun isn’t out here in SF, the summer dress has come out! It’s the perfect outfit for the doctor’s office since it has no snaps and comes off without making Janie cry. Thanks for passing it down to us, Baby Reese!

Look who turned 2 months today! This past month has been fun. She is now almost twice her birth weight, started wearing her 3-month clothes, started sleeping 4- or 5-hour stretches at night, holds her head up when held, and has a social smile. In fact, just today I think she tried to laugh! She is also bringing her hands to her mouth to explore and even tries to push the pacifier back in when it’s falling out. She also went on two road trips and attended her first wedding. It’s been a busy month!
Janie is two months old today! As if she knew it was a new month for her, she did something really cool. This morning while we were chatting, I happened to be recording a video when I think Janie had her first attempt at laughing! What do you think?

We got a box of Johnson&Johnson bath products as a gift from a family friend today and I couldn’t resist taking a photo of Little Janie in the box. She doesn’t look too annoyed with me.
We’re on our way down to Southern CA right now and although we’ve been on the road for about 8 hours, Janie is still a happy traveler.
She’s had some awake periods with lots of smiles. She’s also sleeping and eating like a machine while we’re driving. This is her cooling off while Daddy is getting gas for the car.
