Hawaii, here we come!

It’s time for our annual trip to Oahu, Hawaii! We got up early this morning and waited for the bus in the dark. Luckily the kids were wearing their light-up bracelets and waving them around because that was the only way the bus driver even noticed us. It almost didn’t stop for us!!!

On the plane, the kids did a great job. Janie started her homework packet and then they both watched videos and played games on their iPads.

Janie learned how to write her name in cursive too!

Our flight was on time and we caught an Uber to the hotel. The room was ready at 3pm and we finally got to bring our stuff upstairs.

This year, we are at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and got a room at the Rainbow Tower with a sweet view from our lanai!

After settling in and changing into swimsuits, we found the Tsaos at the hotel ice cream shop!

We spent the rest of the day in the Super Pool and then went out for ramen.

What a great way to start our week-long vacation!!

Christmas Tree

This year we went to Home Depot to pick out a small one. The rule was that it needed to be no taller than Janie this year.

Here’s the tree we chose and we elevated it onto our coffee table so that it can be seen from the window.

Once Mama strung the lights, the kids hung the ornaments.

Here are this year’s ornaments: one from Alaska and the other from Vancouver!

We are ready for the holiday season!

Lighted Train Ride

Back in October, Mama bought tickets to the lighted train ride and the day has finally arrived! It’s one of the oldest trains in the country and they decorate it up for Christmas each year.

We allĀ  boarded and brought snacks and hot chocolate for the kids.

It was raining but we were in a covered car with jackets on.

The inside cars had restrooms and a cafe to buy other snacks and drinks.

The train ran from one station to another and then back in the other direction.

In this photo, Peanut is saying “we love trains!”

What a fun ride and it was a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Day in the City

It’s become a tradition for us to take a trip to the Ferry Plaza to buy bread for leftover turkey sandwiches so that’s what we did! Since we live in Alameda now, we take the ferry, which makes the trip even more fun.

We also lucked out with gorgeous weather after a day of rain yesterday.

At the bookstore, we found a plush of the bridge twins that are on Janie’s San Francisco t-shirt.

For lunch, we went to Hog Island Oyster Company and Janie was so happy to have her pick of the oysters.

Peanut also got his favorite grilled squid salad, which he calls “squid jerky”.

Uncle Victor forgot his hat at our house last night so they met up with us after lunch. Janie got to walk Lil Boom on his leash for the afternoon.

We stopped for treats and drinks at the Hyatt and saw all the pretty holiday decorations.

By the late afternoon, we had to head back to Alameda so the kids could take their swim lessons.

Luckily, Peanut managed to catch a quick cat nap on the ferry ride over too.

Thanksgiving 2019

It’s Thanksgiving! Janie made this cool art project at AIK last week. It was perfect for today.

In the morning, the kids sorted cranberries, Janie cut up the apple, and then helped make the cranberry sauce/relish.

She also helped with peeling the carrots and making the gravy with Dada.

Uncle Victor and Auntie Susie came over with Parker and Lil Boom for dinner. Peanut was a little hesitant around his new friend Parker but then warmed up to him quickly.

He helped feed him some puree and then built block towers for him to knock down.

Janie also got some snuggle time with Lil Boom.

We had another fun and tasty Thanksgiving and happy to have part of our SF family back in our home for this holiday.
