Public House
We had dinner at Public House tonight and Janie had fun playing dress-up with the napkin.
She also ate about 75% of Mommy’s mussels and clams on top of the cauliflower that we also ordered for her. This girl can really eat her fair share nowadays.
Full-time Daycare
Today was Janie’s first day back at school since the holiday and the beginning of going to school Monday through Friday. This morning, she said “go in the car with Mama” and the drop-off went very well. There were no tears and I was able to just leave without any fuss. That was such a relief because she usually doesn’t do well after a long weekend.
When I arrived in the afternoon, she was sitting with her pals around the table coloring.
In the car, she was talking non-stop and has been in such as good mood all evening. It may be because she got 12 hours of sleep last night and it may be because she actually enjoyed school today. We shall never know but I’m just happy she’s happy.
empty warehouse
We stopped at Costco for milk this evening and it was so empty! I guess people don’t know about their holiday hours yet because we were there about 30 minute before closing and it looked almost deserted. Janie loved being able to walk around instead of riding in the shopping cart this time.
Day with Dada
Mommy had to work today so Janie got to spend the whole day with Daddy. Fun!
She said it was raining and this is her umbrella.
Next stop was Starbucks in the morning.
Janie also rode her tricycle to lunch at the fried chicken place.
Pizza!
That’s what’s for dinner tonight!
Alice’s birthday party
Today, we celebrated Alice’s birthday with a big party. Janie helped set-up the table with Uncle Johnny and Daddy.
She had a buffet of tasty Thai food including noodles, rice, chicken, fruit, and Mommy’s favorite tapioca balls.
She made another bag at the craft table and insisted on having 3 eyes and a bunch of puff balls on it.
This girl loves gluing stuff!
Janie was also very good about telling Mommy when she had to use the toilet. We still had pull-ups on her but she managed to stay dry!
Here she is with 2nd cousins Cole and Brandon and Cousin Alice, the birthday girl!
Of course there was cake and it was paradise cake again from King’s Hawaiian! She had the same cake for her first birthday!
Alice woke up in time to blow out the candle. Unfortunately, she didn’t want any part of the cake.
Toward the end of the party, Janie was tired since she stayed up through her nap. Here she is pretending to sleep on the bench next to Daddy. Funny girl. I wish she actually did sleep on that bench. What a fun party!

Evening at the Park
We walked to the park this evening before dinner and Janie had a fun time hanging out and blowing bubbles.
This girl is full of expressions.
I have no idea what she’s saying in this video but it’s fun to watch.
It was a lovely evening by the water. Janie thought it would be a good idea to blow bubbles into the water.
She learned an easier way to carry a bag on her shoulder and was so excited.
Halfway home, she was a little tired so she rode in the stroller in tall kneel. Weeeee!
Dinner and Dessert
This evening, we went down to Burlingame to have dinner with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason. We had Mediterranean food and Janie loved the hummus.
After dinner, we went across the street to have ICE CREAM!
She got to ride on Uncle’s shoulders for a better view of the flavors.
She got some of Daddy’s butter pecan in her very own cone. What fun!
29 months
Janie turned 29 months today and what a month it has been!
I took these photos while we were on our Saturday morning outing. My little baby is turning into quite the little girl. Here are some highlights from this past month:
- POTTY TRAINING!!! We are now in underwear or pull-ups during the day (including at school) with very few accidents. She even gave it a try at Yai and Ta’s house without much of a problem. The stickers are still a powerful reward but totally unnecessary at this point. I think it took about one weekend for her to get the hang of it. This coming month we’ll have to take a leap and go on an outing in underwear. Yikes.
- Dressing: Janie is able to put on and take off her underwear and pants all on her own. This definitely helped with the potty training.
- GG: He no longer has a pacifier (fell off at the beginning of her 29th month) and Janie is doing great without it. She still loves GG and plays with his ears to help fall asleep.
- No more tears at school! That’s right…we’re on a little roll right now with 3 days in a row without tears at drop-off. She always looks like she’s on the verge but somehow she pulls it together when Mommy leaves for work.
- Spanish: This kid is pulling Spanish out of her little brain spontaneously now with me. She’s also labeling what she says by saying, “Mama, Spanish” just in case I wasn’t understanding her. Her vocabulary is increasing each time she goes to school. They go over fruits, vegetables, colors, the alphabet, and many more things that I won’t be able to do with her – all in Spanish. This is great!
- Riding the tricycle: Janie figured out how to pedal and steer her tricycle this month and now does laps around the house.
- Fine Motor: Janie learned how to string large beads. She is also getting better with coloring inside of lines on a picture. Her grasp is looking pretty good too.
- Sharing: This is getting much better – even with Alice.
- Another ride on a plane: We went down to Southern California for a weekend so that Mommy and Daddy could attend a wedding.
- Sleep-over: Janie stayed overnight at Yai and Ta’s house without Mommy and Daddy for the first time and it was a success!
- Ama and Ankong came up to visit us! They were here just in time to celebrate Daddy’s birthday too.
- Daddy’s birthday: Janie helped sing “Happy Birthday” and blow out the candle.
- Sleeping in the pack-n-play again: I don’t know what happened but she’s back in there again and no longer on the sofa. Weird but totally cool with us.
- Thai: She spontaneously said “thank you” in Thai to Mommy one day.
- New foods: lamb and figs.
- Favorite things: Cooking/Tea Parties, Sesame Street, GG, Big GG, Tricycle, turning off the lights, jumping off things, and doing everything herself.
