Early Dinner

IMG_1868

Janie has been asking for hot pot since we bought the new house and she got her wish this evening. She helped cook the meat and Peanut tried to use chopsticks.

It was a good thing we had dinner so early because Peanut was so tired midway through and had to go to bed. He was down by 6:30! School really wipes this guy out.

Salsa

IMG_1782

While Janie was at the birthday party, Mama and Yai took Peanut to lunch at the local Mexican restaurant. He tasted the salsa and was hooked!

IMG_1790

Got so crazy that he just started eating it with a spoon.

He also loved the rice and beans.

He also got a hold of a lime wedge and pretended to season his rice.

Afterschool

IMG_0880

Peanut was very excited to see Yai today when she picked him up from school. He nearly pushed this little girl out of the way.

Once Janie got home, the two kids played together on the sofa.

Then Yai made them some dinner while Mama and Dada went back to the condo again to move more of our stuff.

19 months

DSC_8316

Peanut is 19 months old today!

IMG_0868

He’s learned and grown so much this past month. Here are the highlights from February:

  • Saying “NO” a lot. He’s also learning how to nod “yes” and using “no” more appropriately.
  • He’s getting more proficient with eating with a spoon and fork. He’s also shown us that he can drinking from an open cup under the right conditions.
  • Peanut went up a shoe size and his 18-month clothes are getting pretty snug.
  • Health: Got a cold this month and also had to visit the ED for an infected toe. Eczema comes and goes.
  • Words: Thank you (more like dat choo), mine (and pats his chest), mano (hand in Spanish)
  • Gross Motor: Going down slides on his own, climbing onto big sister’s chair and his own, trying to jump
  • Fine Motor: Showing more interest in crayons, putting plastic eggs together, turning on his music toys with the on/off switch, stacking and nesting cups
  • Social: Does “Cheers!” with anyone who has a cup

This guy has lots of personality and he seems to understand so much more lately. Happy 19 Months, Peanut!!

SPARK Social SF

IMG_0698

We had dinner at SPARK Social SF today. Dada bought ramen for everyone to share and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

IMG_0711

For dessert, we had mini cinnamon sugar donuts made to order.

Janie also made friends with these two boys. She ran around, climbed, jumped off logs, and also made a barricade on the upper deck of the double-decker bus.

Here’s a photo that Dada took of the kids making the barricade.

Peanut had fun climbing up and down the large steps to the platform.

This may be our last visit to this place for a while and the kids made most of it. In fact, Janie cried when it was time to go home.

La Briciola

IMG_0674

One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants is La Briciola. It’s an Italian restaurant complete with white linens and bread basket. Both kids were on their best behavior tonight and made it such a pleasant dining experience.

IMG_0673

They sat through the bread course, appetizer course, pasta and rice course, meat course, and even dessert!

IMG_0677

Both kids loved the linguini and clams and Peanut had some risotto. They both tried the lamb and asked for more. Janie also ordered the dessert herself – fresh strawberries with vanilla gelato. Yum!

It’s good to know that we can still do some fine dining with these two monsters. We were so proud of them tonight.
