Janie gets to kick back in the stroller, eat her blueberries, and read her book while Mommy pushes her on her run. It’s tough being 2.
home sweet home
Janie had a great time in Tahoe but was also happy to be home with her favorite books and toys. She wanted to read the “I Love You” book with Daddy as soon as we walked in.
Later, she set-up a big tea party for all the friends she left behind.
Reunion
When we arrived at the house, Janie was so happy to see everyone.
She brought some toys to share with Cousin Alice and they had a nice in-person reunion – so much more fun than FaceTime.
Before dinner, Janie played teacher and read “Brown Bear” to the family. The grandparents were so amazed at how much more she could talk and do.
She also explored the playhouse out back in the rental house. It was complete with art table, reading chairs, books, toys, and a loft with a twin bed.
acting out a book
This is one of Janie’s favorite books. This one is fun because she acts out the different parts of the book while I read it.
Ferry Plaza
After our snacks, we went for a walk inside the Ferry Plaza Marketplace. This lobster looked like he was waving to her.
At Sur la Table, Janie had fun wandering and exploring.
With the crowd being lighter at this later time of day, Janie got to run free inside. She also toted around her bubbles.
Here she is running through the crowd. She also stops to ask where Auntie Jia went.
She knew exactly where the ice cream shop was and found Daddy and Uncle Jason waiting in line to order.
She was so excited to have some ice cream on such a warm day.
She got her very own cone with a little bit of ice cream put inside.
This time, she went straight for the bottom of the cone and took a big bite.
books in the morning
These two signed up for the Summer Reading Program at the library and they’ve been very diligent with their morning reading time.
Friday Evening
We love going out on Friday evenings because we don’t have to worry about being out too late. For dinner, we ate outdoors at an Italian restaurant. She drew a complete circle today all on her own.
Janie ate her dinner and watched all the people and buses go by.
In between courses, she waited and read her books. They didn’t have a highchair for her so she had to learn how to remain seated. It was hard with so much to see and do out there on the patio.
After dinner, we rode the train home. She took a selfie with Mommy’s phone and then took some pictures with her pretend phone.
Doesn’t she look like every other commuter on the train?
Pout Pout Fish
This is a new favorite book. Funny how she can imitate the intonation of the Blub, Bluub, Bluuuuuuub.
Reading with Daddy
When Daddy came home from work, Janie wanted to read books with him. They read “Pout Pout Fish” and “Dear Zoo” together.
Monday afternoon and evening
Monday afternoon was pretty busy. It started out with a ride to Safeway after Mommy came home. She brought her Pout Pout Fish book along.
Janie always likes looking at all the produce. Today, she said “I want carrot.”
When we got home, she had a tea party and gave each friend something to eat.
After dinner and before bed, Janie settled down with Senor Fatty Duck Duck and pretended to read a novel.
