fancy brunch

This morning, we had a fancy brunch at the Moana Surfrider.  Janie helped Yai with her creamer.

With such a great selection of food, Janie ate rather well.  It’s a good thing because we had another fun-filled day ahead.

After brunch, Mommy got a few pictures of Janie at the Mahalo sign.

It was a little hard getting her to smile for the camera when she was so engrossed in her Nemo book.

on the lanai

Janie loved having a lanai this year.  She especially liked sitting on the chairs with Daddy.  In this picture, she’s showing off her Spanish vocabulary by naming a bunch of fruits and veggies in her book to Daddy.

She was also very good about shoo-ing pigeons off the balcony.

Waiting

IMG_2472

I found her up at the dining table reading a book with her bib on.  When I asked her what she was doing, she said, “I’m waiting for Dada to make my spaghetti.”  I guess she was hungry and/or excited for spaghetti.  It was probably both.

bedtime

IMG_2371

Lately, bedtime has been tough.  Janie is usually willing to go to bed to hang out but she gets so mad when we tell her to “go to sleep”.

So, we just let her lay around and read her books until she falls asleep.  It works most of the time.

Lunch and Naptime

IMG_2017

Just before Janie’s nap, we went out for lunch.  While we waited for the food, Janie read her counting book with Yai.

She was also playing “teacher” with all of us and taught us our numbers 1-10.

I caught this photo of her eating and reading at the same time.  Reminds me of stories I had heard of Daddy as a kid always reading and not wanting to eat.

Once we got home, we had a grouchy little girl who was in need of  nap.  Daddy read a few books to her and then it was lights out minutes later.

books before dinner

When Dada got home this evening, Janie asked for some stories.  Dada pushed the ottoman up against the bed but Janie wanted to lay on them instead of the bed.  She said “Dada neh-neh (sleep) in the bed”. So, this is how they did storytime before dinner.

Big Kid Bed!!!

IMG_0671

Look who has a big kid bed now!!  No more sofa for Janie!  We had to rearrange her “room” a bit and everything fit perfectly.

IMG_0682

She absolutely loved it and spent most of the evening in bed.  The leaf umbrella shades her from the kitchen lights hanging above (and the grease when we’re cooking).  It also makes it a little cozier.

The toddler bed is shorter than a twin bed but just big enough to fit a Dada for bedtime stories.  Unfortunately, she had such an exciting day that she had a hard time falling asleep tonight.
