Watch us grow!

Peanut said “poo-poo” but there was nothing in his diaper. So, Mama sat him on the potty with a book in hopes of something coming out.

Unfortunately, we ended up having storytime on the potty and no poop came out. Oh well, it’s a start.

During lunch, Peanut was clearly trying to push out a poop while sitting in his chair. Mama helped him out by placing him on the toilet. A few seconds later, he pooped! He didn’t have to push nearly as hard and he was amused by the whole activity.

This big girl fell asleep last night without putting on a Pull-up and woke up dry this morning!!! She earned 10 pennies for it and was so proud of herself!!

This morning, Janie went to visit her new preschool for the first time. It was scheduled for 11-12pm and we were asked to pack a lunch for her. We all went together and took the train to school. That was an exciting change for her.

Mama and Dada got to join her for the hour and we all met her teachers and classmates.

She got to play with toys and briefly played with two 4-year-old girls who will be going to the older class next month.

Before lunch, everyone sat on the rug for a couple stories. She got to sit on Dada’s lap today.

Next was potty time and Janie used one of the little toilets all on her own and washed her hands at one of the Janie-sized sinks too.

She joined the kids for lunch and was so happy to see that Dada had packed her one of her favorite meals: Kao Mun Gai (chicken rice with sauce, cilantro, and cucumber). Dada had to leave for work but Mama stayed with her for lunch. She opened the containers on her own and ate like a big girl.

On our way out, we saw where the kids will be napping. It’s in the room next door and they all have their own cots with bedding and blankets that they brought from home.

What a great first visit! It was super easy considering Mama and Dada were there with her. We will have to see how Thursday goes when we drop her off for 2 hours on her own. This is the entrance to her new school. It’s part of Bright Horizons and Marin Day Schools. We hope she will love it.

To celebrate a successful visit, Janie got a special treat while Mama and Yai had lunch.

She got some orange jello from one of the dim sum carts. Cool!!

This morning, Janie went to Disneyland with Auntie Joy, Uncle Johnny, Alice, and Ta.

They all piled into the car together and got there in time for their opening.

It’s the first weekend of the Disneyland 60th Anniversary Celebration and Janie was lucky enough to go!

Once they got into the park, their first stop was the Baby Care Center for a potty break.

The kids got stickers for going potty!

The girls held hands as they walked through Tomorrowland and Alice went for a spin.

Here they are at the Jedi Training Academy.

The first ride they went on was the Finding Nemo Submarine ride. Right away, she spotted the seagulls outside saying, “Mine! Mine! Mine!”.

Initially, she was scared to go in the submarine but did much better this time around compared to when she was 8 months old and screaming when the lights went out.

The next ride was “It’s a Small World” and the girls scored a front-row seat on the boat.

Janie and Ta took a picture together in front of the Walt & Mickey statue at the hub of the park.

Janie got a snack around late morning while Alice took a cat nap.

When given the choice of the carousel or Dumbo, Janie chose to ride Dumbo.

After a 30-minute wait, they scored a blue Dumbo and Janie used the joystick to make it go up and down.

Janie had a fun time this morning at the “Happiest Place on Earth”. Thanks for taking me, Family!!!

Janie is really becoming more and more independent. This morning, she laid out her underwear and her favorite skirt and got dressed on her own. The last thing she has to figure out is how to get her shirt off. This month, she has mastered putting on her shirt and understands which side goes in front. This past week, she also wore underwear to school everyday and didn’t have a single accident to school, at school, or from school (in the car). Her teacher even told me that she sleeps through her naps without an accident too. What a big girl.

We walked down to the Farmer’s Market this morning and Janie ran about a third of the way there. She also found a “car” to drive.

For breakfast, we went to il Cane Rosso and Janie played with her tongs and puff balls until the food arrived. She was calling them “ice cubes”.

She had scrambled eggs and almost finished the side order portion that we got for her. She also did a good job keeping her underwear dry all morning and kept Mommy’s hat on in the sun.

Back at home, Mommy fell asleep on the sofa and Janie took a nap in bed with Dada.

Yesterday on our way from school to Walnut Creek, we had to drive about 45 minutes to get to Auntie Mai’s house. When we arrived, we went to the bathroom for a potty break and Mommy discovered Janie wasn’t wearing a Pull-up or underwear! And she was DRY!!! Wow. Amazing.
This afternoon, on our drive home, Janie was in underwear and we got stuck in ballgame traffic. It took us 45 minutes to get home and she stayed dry again!! So basically, Janie had stayed dry all throughout school, her nap, and her ride home from school. I’m so proud of our Big Girl!!
I’m so happy to see that we’re making progress.

Today, Janie did a great job in underwear. She wore underwear in the car to school and stayed dry. She also stayed dry all day long – including through her nap! I was so proud of her. Before leaving for our drive home, we made sure she went potty beforehand.
Unfortunately, the drive was just a little too long and as we exited the bridge, she said “Mama, I go pee-pee in the car.” OH NO!! We’ve officially had our first pee-pee fail in the car. Fortunately, all the pieces of the carseat come off and can be washed. We also still have our back-up carseat from Cerritos and installed that in the car while the real carseat has a chance to dry. In the meantime, Janie got an early bubble bath as soon as we got home. Oh well, this was only her second try. We may have to invest in some kind of carseat liner to minimize the number of times Dada has to wash her carseat.
Today, Mommy finally decided to trust Janie’s toilet training and sent her to school in underwear. When we got to school, we changed her into underwear and when she got picked up, she was in the same ones, and they were dry! She still has pull-ups in her cubby for naptime but Janie claims that she slept in her underwear too. So, before leaving for home, she went potty one more time and did a great job staying dry the whole drive home!! As a reward, she got a brand-new bubble container.

The best part was getting to blow the bubbles inside the house!!
