Muir Woods National Monument

We woke up early this morning and headed to Muir Woods for the first time. They opened at 8 am and we were there early enough to get a parking spot in their lot and free admission.

What a was nice about getting there early was that it was nice and cool and super empty!

Janie brought her camera and had a fun time exploring and taking pictures of all the things that she found interesting.

She took lots of selfies too including this photo of her with Mama and Dada. Peanut was sleeping so he didn’t get included.

By the time we finished the trail, the sun came out in full force and so did the crowd. We stopped for a snack at the Visitors Center and Peanut woke up for his snack – a tuna sandwich!

Janie got a pressed penny for doing such a good job on our mini hike and waiting until the end for a snack since food was not allowed on the trails.

Peanut also got to stretch his legs and explore the area.

The carved bears were pretty cool!

Peanut is not quite walking on his own yet but he does a pretty good job walking with a little help.He looks so pleased with himself.

What a fun morning walk in the woods!

Each morning, Janie spends at least 15-20 minutes with her brother each morning. Today, Mama found these photos on her phone. Looks like Janie has been snapping photos. Gives us a little perspective of her little world.

Mama had to work today so the kids were home with Dada for most of the day. I love these photos that Janie takes while Dada is taking care of Peanut.

Sunday at the Park

On Sundays, Golden Gate Park closes one of its streets to cars so that people can walk, run, or ride. Janie rode her scooter with Dada on his skateboard while Mama ran with Peanut in the stroller.

Here’s a video of Janie on her scooter. She’s gotten pretty good at using the brake nowadays.

Janie wanted to go another lap so Peanut watched the people dancing. They do Lindy in the Park every Sunday too.

We also went to the California Academy of Sciences since it was just next door.

Peanut loved exploring on his own two feet!!

Janie’s classmate Winston was also there with his family. We had snack together and then met up with them in the aquarium downstairs.

Here’s a photo that Janie took with her camera. She’s getting pretty good with keeping the camera steady.

No Sunday would be complete without a stop at Costco. This time, we bought a two-pound bag of coffee and Janie watched Dada ground it all up at the exit.

What a fun day! Peanut had a good time and was ready to fall asleep right after dinner this evening.

This little girl received her first camera today. I still remember my first camera and it makes me so happy to see that she finds an interest in photography at such a young age. She received our old Pentax Optio waterproof camera. It’s digital (saves us a lot of money!), durable, waterproof, and doesn’t have any moving parts to break. Mama set it up for her and snapped a photo of her in the car on our way to the cherry farm today. Then the camera was handed over to her and it was fun to see what she was interested in photographing throughout the day.

Mama caught her snapping a photo of her little brother in the car with her.

At one point, we were racing the BART train and she said “oooo…BART. Let me take a picture.”

At the cherry farm, she took a picture of all the cherries she picked.

Later in the evening, we went to Amici’s for dinner and Janie brought her camera along. She got a photo of Mama seated across from her.

Picnic

After lunch, we went back to Pier 27. The symphony was all done but there was plenty of sunshine left in the afternoon. So, we laid out the blanket and Janie had a great time playing on the grass and having snacks.
