Dim Sum and Selfies

IMG_6950

After the aquarium, we had lunch at Ton Kiang.  There were so many things to eat there!

IMG_6955

I think her favorite is the char siu bao but the veggies came in a close second.

IMG_6957

While we waited for the check, we took some pictures and Janie used Mama’s phone to take some pictures.

Here’s her picture of Mama – how lovely.

Then she took a picture of Dada.  Not bad.

Then she took a selfie.  Funny girl.

Monterey: Day 2

IMG_6691

This morning, we got up early and went back to the aquarium at 9:30am when they opened.  It was much less crowded and Janie was able to see the rest of the exhibits in less than 2 hours.

The kelp forest was really cool and she loved seeing the sharks.

DSC_6668

She was very scared of the water tunnel but was able to stand underneath with Dada.IMG_6714

We tried to take a photo together in the tunnel but you can’t tell that it’s water rushing over us.

IMG_6696

This was one of her favorite parts: the corral tunnel.

DSC_6691

She got to see a tank full of anemones, Nemos, and Marlins.

In the morning, no one was crowding the penguins so she got a clear view of them.

She also went to the touch pool to feel some of the creatures on display.

One cool thing about this aquarium is that they have Janie-sized sinks so Mama doesn’t have to pick her up to wash hands.  Wish we had one of these in all public restrooms.

IMG_6703

Janie rode on Dada’s shoulders to get a better look at the giant octopus.  He was huge!

IMG_6720

After the aquarium, we walked over to a breakfast place and Janie got to ride the train with Big GG while we waited for a table.

IMG_6722

They hooked her up with some crayons and she colored in the whale on her menu.

IMG_6723

We ordered her the “Mickey pancake” and it was SO BIG!  She ate the ear and that was all she could manage.

IMG_6689

Once breakfast was done, we checked out of what she calls our “Manta Ray (Monterey) House” and headed up to Redwood City to visit Toni and Thomas.  What a fun mini vacation!!

Monterey Evening

IMG_6636

After the beach, we went back to the hotel to shower, eat a snack, and unwind.

IMG_6641

We also got some quiet time and Janie found a nice spot for her to look at her coloring book.

IMG_6667

IMG_6674

Later that evening, Auntie Jia, Uncle Jason, Toni, and Thomas came by to have dinner with us.  It was their first big outing!

IMG_6686

Before they headed home, Janie got to hang out with Toni while Thomas was getting his diaper changed.  She’s become quite fond of her baby cousins.

Father’s Day Dinner

IMG_6467

We went to Hillstone for a yummy Father’s Day steak dinner.  Janie wasn’t quite done with her afternoon nap so she snuggled on Dada’s lap while we waited for our table.

IMG_6470

Janie ate her fair share of smoked salmon today before her dinner arrived.

IMG_6474

She switched seats and sat next to Dada when the food came and had her mashed potatoes, carrots (from home), and some of Daddy’s steak too.

IMG_6475

Hey, where did she go?!

IMG_6490

After dessert, Janie said, “take a picture of me” and posed for the camera.  Silly girl.

IMG_1932

She was also willing to smile for a picture with Mama.

IMG_6499

Happy Father’s Day, Dada!

Night at the Academy

IMG_6365

We got free admission to Members’ Night at the Academy so Janie got to go to the aquarium on a school night.  They had lots of extra stuff there like coloring, presentations, and free kid and adult juice!!

IMG_6367

IMG_6369

First thing she wanted to see were the penguins.

IMG_6370

On our way out of the exhibit, she found the giraffes.  It still makes her so happy.

IMG_6371

She said that was a Mama GG, Dada GG, and a KK GG.

IMG_6377

The daytime lights were turned off so the large tank had a different look to it.  It didn’t matter for Janie because she was still so happy to label all the fish that she could see.

IMG_1919

Before heading home, we stopped at the dance party in the atrium.  Initially, Janie only wanted to watch but then eventually joined them with a whole lot of spinning.

What a fun evening!  On our way out, we said “goodnight” to the T-Rex in the front.

Puke City

IMG_6173

We were a minute from home this afternoon when Janie started to throw up.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t just a little bit but more like her entire lunch and the snack she had on the way home in the car.  Poor baby was so upset and cried.  Luckily we were close to home.

IMG_6182

After a bath, she felt better and had quite an appetite for dinner later.

IMG_6191

By the evening, everything was back to normal again.

Relaxing

IMG_5967

This evening, I found Janie in the bedroom with Dada.  When I asked what she was doing, she said, “I’m relaxing with Dada.  Come lay down next to me!”

IMG_5970

So I did and she gave me lots of hugs and kisses.  And we took a selfie.  Of course.

Zoe’s House

IMG_5914

This afternoon, we went to visit Zoe’s new baby sister.  Her name is Maya and Janie really took a liking to her.

IMG_5908

She also didn’t get too jealous when Mama was holding her.  We did get a couple selfies taken though.

IMG_5917

It took a few minutes for the girls to get reacquainted but they were playing together in no time.  Janie even shared GG with Zoe.  Zoe even had GG sitting next to her all during dinner.

IMG_5921

They were so cute together and this was the first time they actually played together.  All previous times involved one of the two being too shy.  Janie brought her necklaces and shared them with Zoe all evening.

IMG_5920

IMG_5924

Zoe was extra happy when Janie sat down to play Legos with her.  What a fun evening!  Maybe the girls can go to the zoo together next time.
