Family Outing

IMG_8747

Just like we did with Janie when she was a week old, we took Peanut out to the Farmer’s Market today.

Big sis rode her scooter while Peanut hung out in the carrier.

He was super cozy and slept the entire time with the exception of his feedings throughout the day.

IMG_8751

Janie got a special treat, soft serve, for having such a successful first week of preschool.

IMG_8752

She picked out vanilla and chocolate swirl and had it in a cone with a spoon – her favorite.

She felt so special because soft serve is for big kids and not for babies.

After a stop at the playground, we had lunch nearby.  IMG_8763

Janie tried to use chopsticks to pick up gyoza but then realized stabbing them with just one stick was more effective.

IMG_8764

Dada shielded Peanut’s head from his noodles while he ate lunch.

IMG_5201

This was very similar to what he did last time with Janie.

IMG_8770

On the way home, Dada carried Peanut in the carrier.  He, again, snoozed the whole way home.

IMG_8775

Janie also slept in her stroller so that’s why she wasn’t included in this photo.

Here’s the photo we took with Janie when she was the same age.

Can you see his little face inside?  So cute.IMG_5201

First Doctor’s Visit

IMG_0036

This afternoon, Peanut had his first visit to the pediatrician.  They weighed and measured him as usual and unfortunately his weight is down from his birth weight by 1 pound.  I guess Mama hasn’t been making enough milk so far despite feeding every hour.  The doctor took a look at his photos from birth and she has a hunch that he was a little swollen with fluid when he was born and wasn’t supposed to weigh as much.

So, he’s now 7 pounds, 12 ounces today at barely 3 days of age.

IMG_8443

Regardless, his weight is down and he was looking a little yellow (jaundice).  So, the game plan now is for Mama to start pumping to increase the milk supply and in the meantime, Peanut got his first taste of formula (just 2 ounces) this evening to help fill up his belly and to get him to poop more.

IMG_8450

Hopefully Mama’s milk will increase fast enough to get him back on track to dumpling status like his sister.  Our next appointment is on Thursday for a weight check.

And here’s a photo of Big Sis and Mama at the doctor’s office.  Janie still wouldn’t talk to her doctor.  *sigh* Oh well.  She still managed to score a lollipop from her too.

Heading Home

IMG_8348

Once we got our discharge papers, it was time to get Peanut into the outfit that his big sister picked out for him.  It was very appropriate since Tiger was her second name for him.

IMG_8349

“Rawr!” He definitely inherited his great grandmother’s scowl.

IMG_8355

Here’s the full outfit.  So cute…

IMG_8357

Once again, I’ve got a picture of Daddy with a grouchy baby going home.

Kicking Around

IMG_0817

This afternoon was a balmy 79 degrees so we went for dip in the pool.  She didn’t need any warm-up time today and went searching for “fishies” (leaves floating in the water).

IMG_0819

IMG_0821

She practiced kicking and paddling with her arms while Mama held her up.

Luckily Yai came home in time to catch the action with her phone.

marathon morning

IMG_7983

The SF Marathon ran past our house today and we went over to Pier 28 to watch Uncle Jimmy finish.

Janie was super speedy on her tricycle this morning and did a good job staying out of trouble on the crowded sidewalk.

We watched the runners on the concrete block near the bridge and brought the cow bell too.

We met up with Zoe and Auntie Eleen and the girls took some time to warm up again.

Morning at the Museum

IMG_7836

We got to the Cal Academy right at 9:30 when it opened and we got the whole aquarium to ourselves for the first 10 minutes.  Even Janie said, “the aquarium is so big!”  It certainly does look bigger when there aren’t people everywhere.

IMG_7837

Janie took Yai into the tunnel and dome, which is usually filled with kids.

This tunnel was completely empty too!

IMG_7875

There was a table of kinetic sand in the gift shop.  It was so fun to play with!

IMG_7876

We had snack outside before heading home and Janie took a picture of Mama.

IMG_7878

We saw all that we wanted to see within about an hour. What a fun morning at the museum!!
