Our Flight Home

IMG_4784

We made our flight with just enough time to grab lunch and get settled in our seats.  The flight was empty again so Peanut got his own seat again!

IMG_0219

The flight was a short 4 hours and 30 minutes but this little guy only slept for 30 minutes.

IMG_4785

The rest of the time was spent sitting in his seat and occasionally watching the screen in front of him.

The nice Samoan grandma and her granddaughter also entertained him for a bit.

IMG_4797

He was all giggles with them.

Janie did a great job on the flight too despite the lack of napping.  We’re all bummed to be home but took home so many good memories.

one last dip

IMG_4775

We definitely made the most of our stay at the Sheraton Waikiki on this trip.  I think we went in the pool every single day we were here – including this morning!

IMG_4776

We went in for one last dip in the pool as a family and got all the kids together at one time!

IMG_4762

How cute are they?!?!

IMG_4771

IMG_4774

Thanks to Jamie (Sophie’s dad), we got a group photo of the whole family.  I love that you can see all our faces at once.

What a fun vacation!!!  We can’t wait to go back again!

pool day

IMG_4711

We spent our last full day at the pool.  We had perfect weather and everyone had a great time.

DCIM100GOPRO

Here’s our little family of 4 in the pool together.

IMG_4676

Janie was starving after an hour in the pool.  Thankfully, we had some musubi on hand.

IMG_4658

This little guy lounged on his floatie after being in the pool and quickly fell asleep in just a few minutes.

IMG_4661

Looks so comfy.

IMG_4683

At lunch, Peanut joined Mama at the poolside bar and we picked up a hearty snack for big sister.

IMG_4695

It’s great that kids eat free with a paid adult meal.

IMG_4701

Back at the pool, Peanut enjoyed lounging on the chair with Mama while Janie went back in the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

North Shore

IMG_4397

Today, we went to North Shore with Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia.

IMG_4403

We went to Laniakea Beach (aka Turtle Beach) but all the turtles were surfing in the big waves instead of napping on the beach like they usually do.

IMG_4407

After the beach, we ate lunch at the shrimp trunk and then headed to Matsumoto for Shave Ice.

IMG_4409

This girl was so happy and ate her fair share of shave ice and the ice cream underneath.

IMG_4415

IMG_4420

She also scored a smushed penny from the store inside.

IMG_4422

Somewhere along the way, Janie acquired some sticks and played with them in the car on our way to the Dole Plantation.

IMG_4434

Instead of paying lots of money for the train ride, we opted for a handful of fish food and watch the koi fight over the food.

The kids also posed for some pictures.

IMG_4461

IMG_4456

No visit to the Dole Plantation would be complete without some Dole Whip!

IMG_4460

Peanut scored his very own Matsumoto Shave Ice shirt and it was a good thing we bought it because he had a blowout right after we bought it.

IMG_4463

What a fun and exciting day!  This is how Janie fell asleep tonight.  So sweet.

Hawaiian shower

IMG_4372

This morning is rained lightly on our way to breakfast.  For a girl who is growing up in the midst of a California drought, this is a strange thing to understand.  She kept saying “I need an umbrella!”  She also didn’t understand why the sun was still out.

IMG_4374

At McDonald’s Mama and Dada had the spam and eggs platter.  Janie got her very own hotcakes and sausage today!

IMG_4375

She also helped prepare Mama’s coffee.

IMG_4377

Peanut just chewed on his fingers and blanket while everyone ate.

IMG_4379

On the way back, it was sunny again and Janie practiced her “shaka”.

IMG_4381

IMG_4391

Back at the hotel, we hung out with Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia while they ate the breakfast we brought back for them.  We were all smiles including this chubby little fellow.

Off to Hawaii

IMG_3955

We flew to Hawaii this morning and it went rather smoothly.

IMG_3963

There was an extra seat next to Dada across the aisle so Janie ended up there so Peanut could sleep on the seat next to Mama.

IMG_3959

Mama got to watch a full-length movie on the plane for the first time in 3 years!

IMG_3968

When he was awake, Peanut was very good about sitting up and being happy.

IMG_3976

When we arrived in Honolulu, we took the Wiki Wiki shuttle and had a whole bus to ourselves!

Pie Party

IMG_3916

We went to Jack and Reese’s house for their annual pie party.  Poor Peanut didn’t get to taste any of the pies.

IMG_3918

There were 16 pies to taste and Janie voted for her favorite.  She liked the lemon poppy seed one the best.

IMG_3920

After lunch, she drew pictures in the sand in the backyard.

IMG_3922

I’m not sure what she was doing here.

Party for Tia

IMG_3882

On Friday afternoon, Peanut went with Mama to Auntie Teresa’s house to hang out before heading to a going-away party.

IMG_3884

He met Uncle Aaron today once he got home from work and was all smiles.

IMG_3887

Later in the evening, we headed over to Auntie Nicole’s house to have a going-away party for Tia Patty.  He loved sitting on Tia’s lap.

IMG_3888

Of course, there was snuggle time with Auntie Teresa while Mama got to eat a little dinner.

IMG_3891

He also loved hanging out with Mama’s co-worker Donna who fell in love with him.  She was so happy to see how interactive and social he was.

IMG_3894

Then there was some sofa time with his pal Vivian. He was eyeing her milk.

IMG_3898

IMG_3901

Happy Trails to Tia Patty.  Even if she won’t be working with Mama anymore, we’ll still get to hang out.
