Disney on Ice

IMG_8079

Today was a special day for this little girl. To thank her for being such an awesome big sister, we treated her to a day with just Mama and Dada. The highlight of the day was going to see Disney on Ice Frozen. We got half-off tickets back in December and it was finally time to go!! Janie called the Oracle Arena North Mountain because we told her we were going to see Elsa today.

IMG_8078

When we arrived, Mama gave her a necklace and bracelet that had Elsa and Anna’s picture on it.

IMG_8075

We knew there would be lots of little girls dressed in Elsa and Anna costumes so this was our way of including her.

IMG_8082

We arrived early enough to walk around the stadium and took the escalator all the way up to check out the view from the top.

IMG_8083

Then we went down to the Club Level where we had some pretty good seats close to the floor.

We were so impressed with her ability to filter out all the crazy Frozen shwag that was being sold everywhere we turned. She didn’t care for the $24 light-up toys or the $20 t-shirts. She just kept saying “I don’t want any of that. I just want to go to my seat to see Elsa”.   The one thing she did notice was the man with the popcorn on his head while we waited for the show to begin. She leaned over and whispered to Mama and asked “Mama, can I have some popcorn?” So, we got a giant box of popcorn for $7 and there was plenty to share between the three of us and probably the people seated all around us.

IMG_8085

Before the show started, we walked a few steps down to check out the ice rink.  Throughout the whole preshow, we saw Mickey, Minnie, and a bunch of other princesses skate around and Janie kept leaning over to Mama and asking “Where’s Elsa?”

Mama was excited to see an ice skating reindeer (Sven) but the highlight of the show for Janie was when Elsa came out and sang “Let it Go”.

Here’s a video of Janie singing along to the song with the cup of popcorn in her mouth.

IMG_8107

This kid was literally at the edge of her seat the whole time and it was so fun to see her face light up throughout the show.

IMG_0587

Janie said the only part that she didn’t like was when Marshmallow came out. Dada thought it was pretty cool.

IMG_8122

It was so good that she couldn’t be bothered to look at the camera for a photo.

IMG_8137

For lunch, we went to Fenton’s Creamery. It’s a famous ice cream parlor that was even featured at the end of the movie “Up”. Janie ate her kid’s hamburger and fruit before picking out her ice cream from the display.

IMG_8139

She chose Rocky Road – the perfect ice cream that has chocolate ice cream and marshmallows (her favorites!) Her sundae came with rainbow sprinkles and two mini cookies on the side too!

IMG_0590

This is one happy little girl.

IMG_8128

At lunch, she also drew a picture of Elsa (person with yellow squiggly hair).

IMG_8133

Dada (plunging neckline) and Mama (dress and cape) helped add a couple details and then she wrote the word “FROZEN” at the bottom.

IMG_8142

When we got back to the city, we parked the car and took a walk around the neighborhood.

IMG_8146

Janie carried around her big box of popcorn and snacked as we walked.

IMG_8147

Then we stopped at MoMo’s for happy hour $1 oysters!! Janie ate all 6 of them on her own and was happy as a clam. Heh heh.

What a fun day with our First Born. Peanut stayed with Mimi all day and will have his own day later when he’s a little older.

frogs and fish

IMG_7919

We went to the California Academy of Sciences this morning and started in the rainforest.

IMG_7921

Janie saw lots of different frogs and butterflies.

IMG_7927

She really liked these tiny orange frogs.

IMG_7928

We then headed down to the aquarium where Janie touched the sea star and sea urchin.

IMG_7942

Peanut sat and watched the fish swim by and big sister helped point stuff out.

IMG_7956

IMG_7947

Inside the tunnel, Janie found a diver cleaning the glass and took a photo with her.

IMG_7952

IMG_7954

At the gift store, Janie saw an Octonauts display with all the different Gups.

IMG_7955

For lunch, we walked down to Pacific Catch where she had a teriyaki salmon bowl.  She likes watching fish and eating them too. Heh heh.

FanFest 2016

IMG_7611

This morning, we went to AT&T Park to check out Giants FanFest. It’s the perfect opportunity for this little girl to go down the Coke bottle slide.

IMG_7609

IMG_7619

We also sat on the trolley to see all the people down on the field. It was too crowded for us.

IMG_7621

Janie was also amused by the bicyclists passing by down below. She was riding her tricycle down there just he other day!

Valentine’s Day at School

IMG_7550

There was a big celebration of Valentine’s Day at school today. The kids exchanged valentines (we gave DumDums and pencils) and the kids had a special presentation to the parents at the end of the day. Luckily Mama was home today so she was able to watch too.

IMG_7553

All the kids had worked hard over the past two weeks practicing some love songs, making ukuleles, cutting out hearts, and making necklaces for each of their parents.

They all performed for us this afternoon, strumming their ukuleles and singing 4 songs.

IMG_7563

Then they handed out their gifts for us. We didn’t even know Janie could cut out a heart already! What a nice job she did. The ukuleles also had rubberbands that made noise when you pluck them. Very clever.

IMG_7564

IMG_7569

Before we left school, all the kids decorated their own cookies and ate them (of course).

IMG_7574

To celebrate what a good job she did, we took her to SuperDuper and she ate about 75% of this burger!

IMG_7578

We took the train home after dinner and then Janie played her ukulele some more.

IMG_7583

She also insisted that we both wear our leis this evening before bed and snapped a photo.

Day with Mama

IMG_7119

After the morning check-up, we had the rest of the day to spend together.  Once we got home to drop off some stuff and regroup, we headed back out to have lunch with Dada.  We took the bus there and then the light rail home.  Peanut loves being carried in the Ergo.

IMG_7126

Later we went to Safeway and Peanut was showing off his ability to multitask – hold his foot and play with his toy at the same time.IMG_7144

For a little guy who got two shots in each thigh, he was in a pretty good mood this afternoon.  IMG_7149

A new toy came in the mail today and he got to check it out before sister came home from school.

IMG_7150

Later in the evening while we waited for Dada and Janie to come home, he sat in the stroller and watched the fish swim around in the the tank.

Morning at the Academy

IMG_6967

We took a trip to the Cal Academy today and Peanut proudly wore his “I’m a Member” sticker.

IMG_6964

IMG_0466

The best part today’s trip is that Peanut is stable enough to be out of the stroller and sit up close to the exhibits.  IMG_6966

He had a fun time trying to touch all the fish that swam by.

IMG_6970

Janie had a fun time, as usual.  She was even willing to pose for a photo or two.

IMG_6976

We went on the Living Roof because it was such a nice day. It was a little windy but it was blue skies all around us.

Saturday morning

IMG_6890

This morning, we stopped Super Bowl City to see what all the buzz was about.  Janie got to watch a youth group dance on stage while we were there.IMG_6894

We later stopped at the Farmers Market for a snack.  Soft pretzels with yellow mustard are yummy!

IMG_6899

Then we received an Amazon delivery so Janie made the Gup-V for her and her pals.

Thursday Night

IMG_6809

This evening,, we had dinner at Caputo.  It’s a neighborhood restaurant that seems like it’s right at the midpoint between home and Janie’s school.  So Peanut and Mama met up with Dada and Janie after school for a yummy meal.  Janie passed the time by playing with her napkin.

IMG_6811

She pretended it was a bandage (like Peso in Octonauts) and wrapped up our hands.IMG_6813

For dinner, she had some of Dada’s rabbit sugo and some of Mama’s squid ink pasta.  She did such a good job at dinner that we also had a yummy butterscotch pudding for dessert.IMG_6817

Peanut slept through all of dinner but got up when dessert arrived.
