Who’s gonna win?!
Up until now, Janie hasn’t really acknowledged Koa. I used to place her right in front of him and she’d look away or through him. However, today was different. She was sitting on Daddy’s lap when Koa walked by and Janie saw him and followed him with her eyes and head from right to left. Then when Koa walked up to sniff her feet like he usually does, she looked down at him. Yay!! I see the start of a friendship!!
On our morning walk today, I got a cute photo of Janie with her doggie Koa. They don’t interact much now but I’m hoping they will be pals later on when she’s crawling around the house.
We now have a nightly routine. I feed her at 9:00 pm, go to bed around 10:00 pm, and Jes stays up to feed her at 12:00 am. Sometimes she’s practically eating in her sleep at midnight. With this plan, I get about 6 hours of sleep before she wakes up again at 4:00 am. That’s when I pick her up and feed/change her in the livingroom and she sleeps in the bassinet on the chair while I sleep on the couch for the rest of the morning. That way she can fuss as much as she needs while Jes gets enough sleep for work in the morning. It’s been going well so far and last night was about the same. However, a certain little baby woke up again at 6:30 and didn’t want to go back to sleep. So, I plopped her next to me on the couch and hung out with her until we both fell asleep. When Jes got up to get ready for work, he found us sleeping together like this.
We didn’t wake up until 9:00 am for her next feeding. Afterward, she was in such a good mood that she was perfectly happy just sitting under the blanket with me on the couch.
Little Janie’s still not too sure about Uncle Jason. He sorta looks like Daddy but he’s so much bigger! I also like how Koa inserted himself into the photo. What a ham.
Here’s Uncle Jason holding Janie for the first time using the “cradle” or “football” hold. This was on Friday when he arrived.
Two days later, Uncle Jason advanced to the “over the shoulder” hold. Janie helped him out a bit by holding her head up and doing a one-arm push-up on his chest.
Janie is such a chunky monkey now and it makes her so much fun to snuggle. Can you spot Koa in the background of the second photo? He’s always checking up on her.
Janie’s uncle, auntie, and grandpa came up to visit this weekend.
It was a sunny 72 degrees outside so Janie got to take a ride in the stroller for the first time. Daddy went for a run while Mommy and Yai took her around the park with Koa. We also discovered that Koa is very protective of Janie when we’re outside. If he’s walking in front of her, he looks back every couple seconds to check on her.
Koa always wants so see what his little friend is doing.
