This afternoon, we all gathered in front of Ellie’s house for a BBQ with 4 other families. The kids enjoyed helping themselves to the water. Gavin helped Peanut fill up his cup.
We had tables under the tree and the kids had fun sitting together with their snacks.
Peanut had his fair share of watermelon slices this evening and his shirt was a big mess by the end of the day.
He also had a corn on the cob with cool holders on the side.
Here’s our attempt at a group photo of all the kids – including the littlest guy born just a few weeks ago. From left to right: Ellie, Janie, Collin, Gavin, David, Francisco, Daniel, Peanut, Juliano, and Miguel.
This evening, we visited Janie’s new school to pick up packets and to find out who her teacher will be. She took the bus with Dada and played on the playground while Mama was on her way. At the event, we found out that she will have Ms. Kuoch (pronounced “Coach”) and she’ll be in the same class as her pal Gavin!!
Afterward, they all played on the Kindergarten playground. We had no idea that Janie already knew how to cross the monkey bars on her own!!
This boy turned TWO today. Yikes. He’s really turned into a little boy with a big personality. His birthday dinner was at La Penca Azul and he did a great job making (and eating) his own birthday burrito.
We also got him a cupcake and sang to him. He loved the singing and blew out the candles with a little help from big sis.
He also tried the cake this year but still said “don’t like it” and handed his half to big sis.
Instead, he opted for ice cream and demolished it. In addition to ice cream, he’s become very fond of berries and peaches. He enjoys a banana, Hawaiian bread, and yogurt for breakfast at school. He’s broken out of his hate for carrots and will eat them cooked or raw now. Broccoli and green beans are still his favorite veggies. He also prefers salty over sweet and meat over carbs. However, he does love a big bowl of rice just like his Dada and can slurp down a handful of noodles like Mama.
He’s talking a bunch and understands so much more now. He LOVES to sing at the top of his lungs and doesn’t have any volume control. Baby Beluga, Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, and Brown Bear are his favorite hits at the moment with Itsy Bitsy and Baa Baa Black Sheep coming in close. He can count to about 13 in English and Spanish and will identify all the colors in the rainbow. He’s loving pink right now because he wants to be just like his sister.
Peanut picked up the scooter much earlier than his sister – mostly because it was available to him and he has plenty of kids to learn from. He’s also quite the risk taker on the playground and has learned how to sit and hold onto a regular swing without letting go and falling off.
His favorites: Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, Octonauts, and animals. Much of this was greatly influenced by what his sister is totally into right now. He enjoys coloring and cutting with scissors. He can use utensils, loves to practice cutting with a knife, and he’s very close to using chopsticks.
He loves his family with his whole heart and this includes his uncles, aunties, grandparents, and cousins. He recognizes them and can name them too.
I love his sense of humor. I love his hugs. I love his gusto for life in general. This boy usually has an opinion about everything and hopefully that will get him far in life.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Peanut! We love you to pieces and keep us on our toes every waking minute.
The squirt bottle has been a popular toy with all the neighborhood kids. Today, Peanut got to play with it and figured out how to squeeze the trigger. It later became a game of squirting all the big kids.
After a while, the kids lined up to get squirted one by one by the littlest dude on the block.
Janie asked to go outside this morning and she was out bright and early after breakfast. Of course, Peanut had to follow so out he went with a bucket of bubbles.
He’s getting really good at blowing bubbles lately and this is all he wants to do right now.
He also likes to follow his sister and Gavin around while they hunt for bugs.
For lunch, Dada picked up Chicken McNuggets and Janie shared hers with Gavin. They sat outside and ate together like two lifelong friends.
Today we celebrated Janie’s 5th birthday with friends and family. It was nice to have a house with lots of space outside to throw a party. This year, we had a Paw Patrol Party!
We set-up the warm food inside and the snacks and drinks outside. The front door was decorated with a big banner and balloons.
The kids brought their bikes and scooters to ride around the greenbelt.
We all ate outside together and enjoyed the nice weather.
We also had sidewalk chalk and a bubble station set-up for the kids to play.
Janie had one little spill and had to take a moment to get patched up. Then it was back outside she went!
The kids gathered around to sing “Happy Birthday” and then it was time to eat cake!!
Peanut still wasn’t so sure of what he thought of cake.
The rest of the kids loved it though. We even rounded them up for a group photo with faces stuffed with cake and frosting.
Janie scored a bunch of Paw Patrol loot today and had a fun time at her party.
