Babysitting
It’s Auntie Eleen’s birthday so we offered to take Zoe and Maya for the afternoon. It later turned out to be a big kid party at Uncle Ian’s house with Dada and Uncle Ian doing all the cooking.
The big girls did some origami and the littles played Street Fighter.
After dinner, all the kids joined in to play Just Dance on the Nintendo Switch.
Cypress Mountain
We are on our way for another day of snowboarding! This time, we are headed to Cypress Mountain, only 40 minutes from downtown.
The kids got their gear and had a group lesson together. They were pretty far out so we didn’t get any photos or videos of the action.
After a morning in the snow, we went to Ellie and Amelia’s grandmother’s house to play and rest. Thanks to Uncle Eric for watching all the kids tonight!!!
Dole Plantation
We drove to the Dole Pineapple Plantation today and the kids were amused by the tiny pineapples growing out of the ground.
We also took a ride on the Pineapple Express and got a tour of the grounds, learned how pineapples are grown, and saw a variety of different trees and plants.
Peanut was excited to see a coconut tree.
The kids had a fun time exploring the garden on the way to the cafe.
As we waited for our Dole Whip, Peanut got a bag of chips and was found doing a little dance. Funny guy.
Carrot Dance
Both kids wanted whole carrots and decided to do a carrot dance too.
Hot Dog Dance
Peanut loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and looks forward to the Hot Dog Dance song at the end.
Hip-Hop Class
Sophie has been going to a hip-hop/gymnastics class in Oakland so we thought Janie could try it out. On the first week, she just sat off to the side and watched the whole thing. Last week, we missed because our timing didn’t work out. However, this week, she pumped herself up and was excited because Mama taught her how to do a somersault. We weren’t sure how she would do especially since she was saying she didn’t want to take a dance class and also because Sophie wasn’t going to be there today. Mama was pleasantly surprised to see that she jumped right from the start and managed to participate in the class the entire time.
We know that doing the dancing part wasn’t easy for her but she stuck with the instructor and then got to do some tumbling and jumping at the end.
When she came out of the class, she said “I’m proud of myself”. Aw….
Hip-Hop Class
We took Janie to a dance studio in Oakland today to try out the hip-hop class. Sophie takes the class and enjoys it. Unfortunately, Janie opted to sit and watch for most of the 45-minute session. Parents sit outside the room and watch on the tv. Maybe she’ll do more next time.
Thai food
We found a Thai restaurant on Park Street where Janie and Dada’s bus stops. So Mama, Yai, and Peanut met up with them for dinner tonight.
Before heading home, the kids got some fresh strawberry gelato.
Peanut did a happy dance with each little spoonful.
Ozone Thai
We had dinner at one of our local places, Ozone Thai. We started going more frequently back when Dada had to work late and travel a lot. It was where Mama would go with just Janie and later with both kids for some comfort food.
This may be our last time here for a while so we took a family photo at our usual table.
Peanut also did a little dance for us at the end of the meal. Funny guy…
