Meatballs and Scootering

Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason came over this afternoon. They came just in time to have Dada’s homemade meatballs and spaghetti.

It was so yummy.

We also went outside for a walk while Janie rode her scooter.

She’s so fast now that Dada had to go home to get his bike to keep up with her.

We went all the way down to the Ferry Building for a special treat – soft serve!! What a mess!!

Janie rode the train home with Mama with her carton of milk. She was too tired to scooter all the way back home.

Redwood City

This afternoon, we went to visit Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason. Toni and Thomas were also hanging out while we watched some TV together.

It was a warm day but we still managed to go outside to the park for a bit.

She was a little scared of the bridge but she did it.

Janie also met Auntie Jia’s Mommy today. She’s visiting from Michigan for the weekend. After a little warm-up time, they were making purple meatballs together.

She took good care of her babies this afternoon and rocked Big GG and GG to sleep.

We didn’t watch fireworks this year but July 4th but still had a fun time with the family.

Monterey Evening

After the beach, we went back to the hotel to shower, eat a snack, and unwind.

We also got some quiet time and Janie found a nice spot for her to look at her coloring book.

Later that evening, Auntie Jia, Uncle Jason, Toni, and Thomas came by to have dinner with us. It was their first big outing!

Before they headed home, Janie got to hang out with Toni while Thomas was getting his diaper changed. She’s become quite fond of her baby cousins.

Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason came over with Thomas and Toni this evening. Dada made short ribs and Janie got to see her cousins. She was so curious when it was time for Thomas to eat.

She also hung out with Toni after she was done eating.

This afternoon, Janie met her baby cousins for the first time. Initially, she was hesitant and didn’t know what to think despite talking about them all week.

She remembered their names and quickly learned who was who based on which rocker he or she was sleeping in. She commented on how Thomas has the monkey chupon (pacifier) and Toni has the elephant. She also told Auntie Jia that Thomas had more hair.

She spent a lot of time sitting with Auntie Jia while she fed each of them over and over again. Any time one would cry, she would run to the room to check on them. At one point, Uncle Jason said, “let’s go back to the livingroom” and she waved him off and said, “no, I’m gonna watch the baby”.

She was also consoling Big GG throughout the afternoon and placed him in the swing in the evening.

She also had the whole afternoon to play with Ankong and Ama.

They had lots of giggles together.

She shared her necklaces and toys with them.

Janie had a fun time today with her newly expanded family.

On our way home this evening, she said that the babies “cry and sleep and eat a lot too”.

long drive home

Our drive back to SF took much longer than our drive down.

One of our stops was at the Tejon Ranch Outlets. Janie got to have a snack and run around a bit.

She got a new pair of shoes and so did Peanut! Janie also had fun looking through all grown-up shoes. There were so many colors!

After a nap, Janie spent a few hours watching Finding Nemo and Curious George. It’s a good thing we came prepared because there was a lot of traffic on Interstate 5.

She eventually fell asleep toward the end of the drive.

Our final stop before heading home was Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason’s house. We picked up pizza and Janie got a bath. She gave Auntie a big hug before leaving. The next time we see her, she might have two new babies for Janie to meet!!

Redwood City

This afternoon, we drove down to Redwood City to watch Auntie Karen play taiko at the Relay For Life Event. The kids had a great time watching and listening to the drumming.

After the performance, we got the Strider out and Janie followed Sophie around on hers. She’s had a lot more time and practice with hers and zooms around so fast!

Janie tried her best to keep up but this was only her first time outside with her bike.

It’s gonna take at least another month or two before Janie can even come close to keeping up.

Daddy also took the bike for a test ride.

The event was at Sequoia High School and the kids wandered onto the football field for a little running and hijinks. Look at those two go!

They also tried out the tackle sleds.

Vivian gave it a try too!

After all that activity, the kids were ready for snack. Janie shared her carrots and celery with Vivian.

Auntie Karen served up some tasty inari and Spam musubi too. Thanks Auntie!

Later that evening, we went back to Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason’s house. They live only 3 minutes from the high school!

We later went to dinner with them to a Japanese restaurant and Janie ate lots of soup, edamame, chicken, and rice.

Sunday Afternoon

On our way home, we stopped at Auntie and Uncle’s house to drop off their air mattress. Janie got to hang out with her favorite auntie while Daddy dried out the sleeping bags outside.

Once we got home, everyone got a bath (including GG) and Janie had a tasty dinner.

She must have been exhausted because there was no fighting bedtime tonight.

Shower for the Cousins

This morning, we had a baby shower for Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason. It was a pizza party in Burlingame. We got there a little early so we went across the street to the toy store for a bit.

Janie played with trains and then the dollhouse.

At the party, Janie was so excited to see Auntie Jia and there were lots of little kids there too.

She liked the caprese salad and meatballs and had some pizza too.

The best part was some of Daddy’s chocolate cupcake.

She also insisted that GG and Big GG came along to the party today so they sat in their own highchair.

When we were all done eating, everyone got to run around and Janie was stuck to Auntie Jia like glue.

In fact, she photobombed quite a few of the pictures with her today.

What a fun party! She can’t wait to meet her two little cousins!!

3rd Birthday Party

We celebrated Janie’s 3rd birthday today at the Children’s Creativity Museum. It had a Nemo theme and Janie was so happy to see her favorite characters on the cupcakes and balloons.

Before the food arrived, all the kids (and grown-ups) spent time in the museum playing with foam dough.

There was also a craft table where the kids made rockets.

For lunch, we had Hawaiian food, veggies, and fruit. The Spam musubi disappeared in a flash.

After lunch, everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Janie and she had a funny reaction to what happened after she blew out the candles.

Luckily Auntie Ishya caught the whole thing on video for us.

Janie chose a chocolate cupcake with a Nemo ring on top and had lots of frosting and cake on her face for the rest of the party.

In fact, all the kids LOVED the cake and each had blue frosting all over their faces.

I wasn’t sure if she would able to share the balloons we bought for the party but she did and actually handed some of them out to her friends.

Once the birthday party got packed up, we headed out to the carousel for a couple rides.

To burn off all the sugar, the kids went back inside for some more fun. They all played together on the slide and made a couple videos too.

The slide is green so that you can record yourself with a variety of backgrounds.

I’m amazed that we somehow managed to get all the kids together for a group photo.
