We call this making “fish eyes” in this family. Daddy and Uncle Jason both do it quite a bit and this little one has inherited it.
First Opera

Janie attended her first opera. AT&T Park hosted a live simulcast of La Traviata this evening and it was free!

We had a picnic on the field before it started and also watched a Bugs Bunny cartoon on the giant screen.

At one point in the evening, she didn’t want to share her book with Uncle Jason. Here she is being a Pout Pout Fish.

Janie was actually very well-behaved during Act I and did a good job keeping her hood on. It got pretty cold after the sun went down.

We left during the intermission after Act I because it was getting too cold out there.

Janie had a good time anyway and got home in time for a tea party and story with Auntie Jia before going to bed.
Saturday morning
We all slept over at Auntie and Uncle’s house on Friday night and Janie did not have a good night’s sleep. She cried every hour because of her stuffy nose and insisted on sleeping on the while sofa. So, that’s where she slept and Mommy slept on the brown sofa.

This is what she looked like in the morning.

She also had such a fit when Mommy tried to give her a bath and woke up the rest of the family. As we were all getting ready to go out, Janie helped Auntie Jia re-pot her plant out on the balcony.

At brunch, Janie enjoyed showing off her sunglasses.

BBQ and Fireworks

For July 4th this year, Janie spent the day in Redwood City. Daddy made ribs and corn on the grill and Janie enjoyed hers on the floor. Silly KK!
Here she is playing with Big GG. She’s pretending he’s going down a slide.

Later that evening, instead of going outside, we watched the Macy’s 4th of July Celebration on tv and Janie loved the fireworks display they had over the water in New York City.

She kept pointing and saying “lights!” and clapped each time a song ended.

Happy July 4th, Everyone!!
Fun with Auntie

We all know that Janie LOVES playing with Auntie Jia. Today, she did all kinds of stuff with her.

They went to the park and played on the swings and slides.

It was pretty hot out there so it was a good thing they had a little shade there too.
Later, she played Hide and Seek with Uncle Jason with a little help from Auntie.

Later in the afternoon, Janie learned how to water Auntie Jia’s plants with a squirt bottle.

She even watered all the dead plants today.
Sunny Sunday

This morning when I told Janie that Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason were coming over, she spent the next hour saying, “Auntie Jia coming! Uncle Jason coming!” When they arrived, she was beside herself.

We started the day with a walk and scooter ride to lunch.

Janie sat outside and had a little snack while we waited for a table. She was pretty good about keeping her hat on. It was a very sunny day.

Once seated, she colored and had clam chowder and a raw oyster.

After a hearty nap, we all rode Muni to Union Square where she walked up and down the sidewalks with the grown-ups.

We stopped for a sweet treat before dinner and she was so excited to see a “tea party” in real life.

Walking to dinner was fun. Stomping down the hills was the best part.

She also stopped to take a look at the cupcakes on display. Wow…it’s just the like the toy cakes at home.

Janie absolutely adores her Auntie Jia and had such a fun time with her today.

Dinner was pretty good too. She loves rice as much as her Daddy and Auntie.
Sunday afternoon

For Sunday dinner, Janie got to see Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason.

We went to a place in Foster City and she enjoyed coloring with Auntie before the food arrived.

After dinner, Janie got to ride the scooter along the bike path just south of the San Mateo Bridge.

The next stop was Baskin-Robbins for dessert!

She got to have some coconut pineapple ice cream and a cone all to herself!

It’s always fun when Uncle and Auntie are around!!

On our way home, Janie was playing with her friends in the backseat. When I turned around, she had GG on her head. Silly KK!

surprise visit

In the evening, we got a text from Auntie Jia that she was in the neighborhood and needed to hang out for a bit before catching her train home. Janie was so excited to see her when the doorbell rang. What a special late-night treat!
Church Snacks

Janie really enjoyed the rice crackers they gave out after Sunday service.

Ankong helped clean her up when she was all done.

First Funeral

Janie attended her fist funeral and said goodbye to her great grandmother this morning.

We had a memorial service for her today at Rose Hills and Janie was so well-behaved during the hour-long service.

Thanks to Auntie Jia for keeping her company.

Out on the lawn, Janie brought her backpack filled with things to keep her occupied. Yai helped keep track of all her bracelets.

As we waited for the burial service to finish, Janie wandered the lawn and went up and down the hills with Ankong.

She also learned how to pick flowers.
Ama taught her that these particular flowers were actually weeds.

This one was for her Great PoPo.

She also enjoyed picking flowers out of the floral arrangements at the end.

These pink ones were her favorites.

I’m glad that Janie’s first funeral experience was a good one.
We’ll miss you Great PoPo!
