Watch us grow!

This morning, Janie helped make a sample bag for Alice’s party.

When it was all done, it looked like a tree with eyes and a giant nose.

This afternoon, the kids were all kicking and throwing balls. Janie is the one in the middle in the black with her back turned.

Before we headed home, she showed me all of her coloring pages.

Janie brought home a toothpick project today.

Daddy went to a class today so Janie and Mommy had a day of shopping and exploring together. We took our usual walk to the Farmers’ Market for breakfast and this is how Janie stayed close among the crowd. She “holds the yellow” any time she is out of the stroller. It’s working well so far.

There were lots of performers out today and Janie asked to listen to the famous drum guy in front of the clock tower.

On the way to Union Square, Janie talked on her GG phone and told Daddy about all the things he was missing out on today.

On our way home, we passed the Disney Store and went inside to say “hello” to Olaf.

Janie asked to get out of the stroller and managed to hug every Olaf she saw at her level. Here she is helping him say “hi” to Mommy.

Then she spotted the Elsa and Anna dolls.

She decided to take down this Anna doll for a closer look.

Before heading home, we made a pit stop at the Family Lounge inside the mall. They have a Janie-sized toilet there where she also took a Janie-sized poop. What a big girl.

When we got home, she must have been exhausted because she was in the middle of lecturing Big GG when she fell asleep for her nap.

Once the blanket was moved out from under her, she straightened out and slept for 2 1/2 hours!

After her nap, she did some drawing. She called these “flowers”.

We changed her schedule this week and Janie’s school days are Monday and Tuesday this week. She had a rough start at school this morning since she was up coughing in the middle of the night. She cried during the drop-off and I had no idea what he day would be like. So when I picked her up after work, I was pleasantly surprised to see her happily coloring at the table with a few other kids. When she noticed me, she stood up with a look of surprise and said “It’s Mama. Mama’s here.”

She colored a picture that we took home. When the teacher gave it to me, Janie said “It’s Dada.” Aaaw…her Daddy is her Prince Charming right now. So sweet. I was also impressed at her ability to color the picture.
I noticed that Janie has a more refined grasp on the crayon today. She’s placing the crayon in her fingers so that she’s using a grasp that almost resembles a static tripod. This OT Mama is so proud of her 2-year-old right now.
She’s still into drawing oceans. She seems to have a love-hate relationship with Mr. Ocean.
Here she is trying to draw fish in the ocean that she’s made. There’s so much going on in that little brain of hers.

When we arrived at the resort, it started out sunny but then the clouds were getting gray and dark. As we walked up the hill to the lobby, we saw lightning and then heard a big boom. That was Janie’s first experience with thunder and once we explained it to her, she wasn’t scared anymore. It just startled her every once in a while as it does with anyone who doesn’t see the lightning first. It took a little while for us to get our keys so we hung out in the lobby area with Uncle James and Ariel.

At the condo, Ariel shared her magnetic blocks. How fun!

This is Janie’s bed for the weekend. It’s a yoga mat with a squishy comforter and two beach towels underneath a bedsheet. Looks super comfy! Ariel had one set-up in her room too so Janie was excited and tried it out before dinner.

I think Janie was inspired by all the scenery because she drew this picture and called it “Trees and Rain”.

For dinner, Daddy made beef noodle soup and she had quite a feast!

Afterward, Janie and Ariel took a bath together and had a good time.

This evening, Janie had dinner while on Facetime with Ta and Yai. She shared meatballs with them and then drew an ocean and fish.

Janie colored this today with some guidance on color choices from Mommy.

Janie is starting to make some more interesting squiggles lately.
