ferry and bus

IMG_1365

When it was time to return to the hotel, we rode the Star Ferry back.

IMG_1371

It runs every 15 minutes and the ride across the water itself is only about 15 minutes long!

Peanut had a great time pointing out all the other buses on the street.

Kowloon

IMG_1264

The kids woke up starving again because they missed dinner last night. Thankfully we have breakfast on the top floor every morning to get their tummies filled.

IMG_1271

Then it was off to Kowloon for the day! We rode the train across Victoria Bay to the other side of Hong Kong to find the infamous pineapple bun that Uncle Jason loves so much.

IMG_1273

IMG_1285

At the cafe, it was small but they managed to get all six of us at a table. The kids ate some bread with butter and condensed milk.

IMG_1286

They also enjoyed drinking milk out of a milk bottle.

IMG_1290

The cafe also happened to be in the pet district so we saw lots of fish stores with bags and bags of colorful fish for sale.

IMG_1307

As we waited for Ankong and Ama to arrive by train, we stopped at McDonald’s for a snack. Janie got a Kinder egg and Peanut got some chicken nuggets to hold him over.

IMG_1309

IMG_1316

On our walk down the famous Nathan Road, we saw lots of cool sights, cafes, and shops.

IMG_1317

There were some giant king crabs in this window front display.

IMG_1320

We walked and walked all the way down toward the water and Janie did a great job.

IMG_1324

Uncle Jason offered a short ride to give her feet a little break.

IMG_1329

As a tasty treat, Ankong bought Janie a watermelon drink with fresh mango.

IMG_1342

We finally made it to the waterfront and found the Bruce Lee statue at the Garden of Stars.

FECC Visit

IMG_4278

On our last morning in Cerritos, we met Ankong and Ama at church for a little playtime. They have a preschool there with a cool playground outside. The kids had a fun time exploring all the slides.

IMG_4285

Peanut was a little worried about this big bumpy slide but was able to go down on his own.

IMG_4286

After playtime, we went upstairs to see Ankong and Ama’s offices. The preschool kids happened to come out to play and the kids talked and waved to Peanut and Janie through the window.

IMG_4307

IMG_4292

Peanut also got to try out Ankong’s chair. He looked pretty comfy. I think he’s ready to take over as Senior Pastor.

Day with Ankong and Ama

IMG_2691

Today was Peanut’s day with Ankong and Ama. We dropped him off at the house after going to the dentist and they said he was in a good mood. He napped and then played outside until the rest of the family got home.

IMG_2688

Then we had to say goodbye when it was time to take them to the airport. Thanks for watching Peanut today, Ankong and Ama! Have a safe flight home!

Sunday Morning

IMG_2609

This morning we all got up early and walked to church together. Peanut wanted to hold Dada’s hand part of the way.

IMG_2611

We had to walk past Peanut’s school and down the street some more. Janie led the pack.

IMG_2614

After service, we walked down to La Penca Azul for lunch. We saw some ducks in the pond nearby.

Dinner with the Family

IMG_2581

It’s rare that we get the whole family together in the Bay Area. We almost got everyone up here but Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy couldn’t make it up this weekend. After the birthday party, we all went out for dinner at Southshore Center. The kids ran around for a bit, had some Chinese food, and then stopped for ice cream.

one more meal

img_0309

We had dinner with Ankong, Ama, Uncle Jason, and Auntie Jia this evening before driving back up to SF.  Peanut was particularly fond of Ankong this evening and hugged his arm.

img_0310

He also have him “kisses” with his forehead. So cute.

img_0311

Peanut and Toni sat next to each other and shared food all evening.

img_0313

Janie had a hearty meal including her new favorite soup dumplings!

img_0317

Janie snuggled up to Uncle Jason one last time before we piled into the car for a 6-hour drive home.

Lucky for Mama and Dada, both kids fell asleep right away and we only stopped twice for gas and pee breaks. We left Cerritos at 7:30 pm, had to drive through thick fog at times, and safely arrived home by 2:15 am.

Christmas 2016

img_6553

For Christmas, we went to Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia’s house. Dada prepared a standing rib roast today and used a blowtorch to prep the meat.

img_6547

Thomas and Toni got a front-row seat to the fiery action.

img_4858

Mama, Peanut, and Janie arrived a little later and were ready to play!

Ankong and Ama’s House

img_7451

We went out for dinner with Ankong, Ama, Uncle Jason, and Auntie Jia this evening.

img_7456

img_7461

After dinner, we went to their house and Peanut had fun climbing the stairs with his sister.

img_7460

Janie also saw all of Ankong’s new fish and helped to feed them. She said “I help Daddy at home all the time.”

img_7465

Before heading home, the kids played together for a bit. This is Janie’s favorite toy at this house – a Chinese checkers board made with golf tees. She’s been playing with this ever since she was Peanut’s age.
