Who knew that this blog would be enjoyed by the same kids featured in it. This morning, Peanut got a kick out of the photos and videos of himself on LittleJanie.

Mama supervised the kids folding laundry today from her office at work.

Janie turned 8 today and it was a very different birthday this year. We are in the heart of Shelter-in-Place here in California but still wanted to celebrate this special day.

Mama picked up party favors and gifts from Target on her way home, picked up cake from Baskin Robbins, and then had a virtual birthday party with the family over Zoom. Auntie Jia had sent a bunch of gifts this past week too.

Once everyone got online, we all sang Happy Birthday, she blew out candles, and then the presents were opened.

Toni and Thomas also drew a special birthday picture for her.

Happy 8th Birthday to our baby girl!

Mama made one of her childhood favorites for the kids today: Thai savory omelette.

The kids apparently like it just as much and gobbled it up before Dada could get some.!

The kids played a new board game called “Count Your Chickens”. It requires working together so it’s Mama approved.

Peanut helped Dada make salad today. He’s becoming quite the little helper lately.

Then we had dinner with Ankong, Ama, Toni, Thomas, Auntie Jia, and Uncle Jason over Zoom.

We had another family game night after dinner and played “SORRY!” This is how we spend our crazy Friday nights now. 🙂

Maya (her friend from the neighborhood and school), drew some pictures and wrote her a note outside our house. Janie saw it later and called her over Facetime. It’s nice to see that they can still “hang out” during this weird time.

Being home all day requires some novel activities to pass the time. The kids worked on puzzles and we also had family game night after dinner.

Peanut has mastered a new skill: cracking eggs into a bowl. He helped make a lemon tart with Mama today and cracked all the eggs and loved using the whisk to mix it all up.

Here’s the final product!

We got this Paw Patrol desk from Auntie Jia a while ago and have been saving it for the right time to build it. Now that we are stuck at home and Peanut is big enough, Dada put it together and it’s perfect for Peanut to do his “work”. Thank you, Auntie Jia!
