Floating
1st Aquarium

Janie is 100 days old today and we celebrated by taking Janie to Waikiki Aquarium. The aquarium is small and admission is inexpensive, making it the perfect place for a 3-month-old.

We weren’t sure if she would even be able to see the fish but she did!

At the outdoor exhibit, she tracked a big striped fish swim back and forth with her eyes.

Then when we took her to a really big colorful exhibit, her face lit up and she started kicking. It was so much fun to watch her. Here’s a video of her excitement:

Future Elmo Fan?
This morning, Janie was in a good mood and we took turns laughing. Apparently she’s amused by my terrible imitation of Elmo’s laugh.

Ready to go!
We took a day trip to Napa this afternoon and this is Janie all buckled into her carseat and ready to go.

Trying to Sit
Last Thursday, Janie was starting to lift her head off the couch and saw her toes. Click here if you can’t see the video above.

This morning, she got forward and happened to land right onto her lap. I think she was surprised to still be upright. Then…

Oh no.

Fortunately, she made a nice recovery and still had a smile on her face in the end.
Big Girl Stroller

Since Janie is now 3 months old and has pretty good head control, I thought I’d try her out in the Big Girl Stroller. It’s the same stroller that we’ve been using except we removed the infant car seat from the top. As soon as we buckled her in, she had a huge smile on her face and seemed pretty happy to be sitting upright. Here’s a video of her in the stroller and having a great time:

Best Friends
Janie and her giraffe have been best friends since birth. Giraffe soothes her when she’s about to fall asleep and I found her soothing Giraffe this morning too.
Learning to Grasp
Janie loves to eat her fingers and now they’re starting to open, close, and hold things. How exciting!

Open and Close
Up until now, I just assumed that Janie was accidentally grabbing the washcloth with her left hand. This afternoon, I watched her as she actually opened her fingers to grasp the washcloth with more purpose. This video only shows it once but I watched it over and over again each time I took it out of her hand. Ah…her OT Mommy is so proud.
