First Funeral

IMG_4665

Janie attended her fist funeral and said goodbye to her great grandmother this morning.

IMG_4668

We had a memorial service for her today at Rose Hills and Janie was so well-behaved during the hour-long service.

IMG_4667

Thanks to Auntie Jia for keeping her company.

IMG_4676

Out on the lawn, Janie brought her backpack filled with things to keep her occupied.  Yai helped keep track of all her bracelets.IMG_4677

IMG_4679

As we waited for the burial service to finish, Janie wandered the lawn and went up and down the hills with Ankong.

IMG_4680

She also learned how to pick flowers.  IMG_4681

Ama taught her that these particular flowers were actually weeds.

IMG_4688

This one was for her Great PoPo.

IMG_4692

She also enjoyed picking flowers out of the floral arrangements at the end.

IMG_4697

These pink ones were her favorites.

IMG_4703

I’m glad that Janie’s first funeral experience was a good one.

We’ll miss you Great PoPo!

decorating

IMG_4562

Daddy’s Father’s Day Gift came early so we decided to give it to him tonight.

IMG_4563

Janie decorated the box this afternoon before he came home and had a really fun time doing so.

IMG_4569

She covered every side of the box with marker.

IMG_4571

IMG_4575

She looked so excited to watch him open his present – mostly because she wanted to open it herself earlier.  In case you were wondering, Daddy got a SodaStream!

Auntie Yoon’s Wedding

IMG_3087

In the afternoon, we walked to the Hale Koa Hotel and hopped on a shuttle bus that took us to the ceremony.  Janie fell asleep on the walk over and continued to sleep on Daddy’s lap.  All that fun this morning must have wiped her out.

DSC_4764

Once we arrived at the Country Club, she woke up refreshed and ready to play.

DSC_4755

She even posed for a few photos.

IMG_3094

The ceremony was very short and she watched it from Daddy’s shoulders.

IMG_3099

Afterward, they served punch and she got to have some.  Keenan looks like he was waiting for his turn to sip.

IMG_3108

Buddy Keenan was there and after sharing a hug, they jumped and ran around until the bus returned to take us back to the wedding hotel.

DSC_4812

DSC_4814

Take a look at her jumping!

DSC_4821

These two had such a fun time together.

IMG_3116

Back on the bus, she was wide awake to take in all the sights.

IMG_3120

She had fun sitting next to Daddy and was surprised to find Mommy behind her.

IMG_3123

There was so much to see!!

IMG_3132

Back at the hotel, she got to say “hello” to Auntie Yoon.

IMG_3136

That bouquet is heavy!

IMG_3144

We all had a snack by the beach and Janie got some of Auntie Krissy’s fries.

IMG_3149

Andrew tried to share his oatmeal.

IMG_3152

He didn’t look too happy with the little spy standing behind him.

IMG_3209

For the reception/dinner, Auntie Yoon made arrangements for a nanny to watch Janie, Keenan, and Andrew.  She slept the whole time and even when we brought her downstairs at 9:00.  She woke up when the reception was all over so she was able to change into her pjs.  This photo (above) is Janie hitching a ride back to the hotel with Daddy.

Package for Janie

IMG_2535

When we got home today, there was a big box by the door.  It was addressed to Janie!!

IMG_2536

It’s a huge wooden alphabet and animal puzzle from Cousins Sadie and Theo!!

IMG_2537

It’s really cool and has lots of animals that she recognizes.

IMG_2540

Thank you Cousins!!  Let’s get together again soon for a trip to the zoo!!

Easter Eggs

IMG_2507

This afternoon, Janie dyed Easter eggs for the first time.  At first, she was puzzled by the white crayon that you draw on the white egg before they go in the dye.  She kept giving the crayon back to me as if it was not working.

IMG_2500

Once she saw the fruits of her labor, she was more excited.

IMG_2502

Her favorite part was dunking the eggs in the dye.  Surprisingly, she was really good about being gentle and we didn’t get any big spills or splashes.

IMG_2524

Here she is working on her next masterpiece.

IMG_2505

G-Auntie Jeanie and Auntie Jia also joined in on the fun.

IMG_2506

When the colored egg would come out, Janie tried to add more crayon wax to it.

IMG_2519

She loved all the bright colors and tried putting stickers on them.

IMG_2511

She actually just enjoyed playing with the stickers.

Happy Easter!!

Birthday Lunch

IMG_2499

We celebrated Janie’s birthday with lunch at Hillstone. This is her old lady smile.  It looks like she’s saying, “hello, they made me come”.

IMG_2478

She enjoyed smoked salmon, fries, crackers, ribs, and peas.

IMG_2496

The best part was the birthday ice cream!

IMG_2529

They brought out a scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce on top.  They also put two candles on top for her.

Too bad after all our practicing, she didn’t want to blow out the candles.

IMG_2482

Yummy!  Unlike yesterday, she didn’t have to beg anyone for THIS ice cream!

IMG_2453

From Sophie, she got a giraffe book, giraffe doll, and Sesame Street stickers!

IMG_2442

IMG_2444

Vivian gave her a funny book and more stickers!!

IMG_2459

From Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia, she got books and a funny farm toy.

Thank you for all the presents, Everyone!!

Birthday Balloon

IMG_2416

A couple weeks ago, we were in line at Safeway and Janie pointed up and yelled “ELMO!!”  Ever since then, she’s been looking for him but someone must have bought it because we never saw it again.  So, on the morning of her birthday, we went to pick up her very own Elmo balloon.  I didn’t realize how big it was until the lady blew it up.  I couldn’t turn back now since we were pot-committed so now we have a giant Elmo in our living room.  I can’t tell you how excited Janie was when I handed it to her in the store.

IMG_2419

Here we are on the sidewalk trying to get it home.

IMG_2427

It was a pretty ridiculous sight since the balloon was as big as her!

IMG_2428

When we got home, I put the weight higher so that Elmo would stay closer to the ground.  It was like having Elmo walking around with her in the house.

IMG_2430

IMG_2433

IMG_2435

It’s a little creepy if you ask me but she loved it.

Birthday Scooter

IMG_2400

For Janie’s 2nd birthday, we bought her a scooter.  It’s just like the one she fell in love with at Rowan and Isla’s house.  This morning she found it hiding in our bedroom and started rolling around on it in the bathroom.  So sneaky.

IMG_2407

She couldn’t wait to try it out so I let her roll up and down the hallway in her pjs and without shoes.

IMG_2463

Later when Auntie Jia and Great Auntie Jeanie came over, we took her down to the courtyard to play.  Luckily she didn’t mind wearing the helmet.

IMG_2464

She had a slow start but once we got her on the ramp, she was flying!

IMG_2492

She glided down the little hill and G-Auntie Jeanie guarded her from the front.

IMG_2493

Look at this kid in action!!

This was her first time down the ramp without help.

She looks like a pro already. Maybe Uncle Johnny can teach you how to do bunny hops.

the quilt

DSC_4732

This is her 24-month picture with the quilt.  It’s still so hard to get her to sit in place and look at the camera but I got something close to her 1-month and 12-month photo.

one year later dated

Look at the comparison!

Here are some of the outtakes.

DSC_4727

I actually like this one (above) best.

DSC_4729

This one looks like the one we took when she was at 10 months.
