Watch us grow!

This afternoon I put Janie down for a nap. One minute later I found this little munchkin popping her head up from behind the “blanket wall”. Who can resist that face?!

Janie cried herself to sleep and this is how she ended up. Yes, she’s still breathing. I checked and turned her head. I was worried too.
Now that she can pull to stand, Janie can do a full-on protest at bedtime. Oh goody.

Janie is 39 weeks old! This week has been a big one for us all. She started crawling! It’s not the prettiest crawl but she’s on the move and we’ve been having to watch her even more closely. It’s definitely made these weekly photo shoots a lot more challenging too. Here’s one of our outtakes. She’s quick!

She also started sleeping on her tummy more regularly and managed to sleep 11 hours one night this week. That was amazing. She also had tofu and sliced American cheese for the first time this week. As usual, they were a hit.

She’s also been a lot more interested in Koa this week. She’s always enjoyed his company and used to crack up at his every move but now she’s OBSESSED with him. Maybe it’s because she can almost follow him around the mat and she can also get up on her knees for a better look at him.

So, I guess it was only appropriate to have Koa included in one of this week’s ducky photos too. He just barged right into the photo shoot and she was DE-lighted.

Janie has been sleeping better these days. Thank goodness the teething is over for now and she’s over that yucky cold from last week. On Monday night (2 nights ago), she slept 11 hours! She woke up a couple times but managed to get herself back to sleep each time so that totally counted! Good baby! She’s also been turning over and sleeping on her tummy on her own. Yippee!

Look who slept 11 hours last night! Woohoo!
She’s also learning how to play by herself for longer periods of time. This comes in handy when I need to walk the dog in the morning and Daddy is still sleeping. Hooray for the Pack n Play!!

Each weekday morning I have to leave this. It really makes going to work so much harder.

It’s time for bed!

Uh oh…she doesn’t look tired at all.

I’d better take those toys out now.

Now that Janie is moving more and can get up on all fours, we’ve had to start the baby-proofing. Step one was buying a playmat. Instead of spending a good chunk of change on the ones they sell at Babies R Us, we found these mats on clearance at Home Depot for 8 bucks. What a deal! That’s more money into your college fund, Baby!

This morning, I had to lower her bed since she can get into a sitting position on her own now. *sniff sniff* I had put it off as long as I could but it was time. Now she has a playpen too for when Daddy’s on his work calls.

Baby’s sleeping in the big girl bed now.

Janie is 35 weeks old today and we took a special photo with Senor Fatty Duck Duck in front of the Christmas tree. This week has been a rough one with Janie growing an upper tooth and then catching a cold.

We also had a visit to UCSF Neurosurgery for a consult on the flat spot on the back of Janie’s head and the doctor said that he would be fine if she starts sleeping on her tummy. So no helmet for baby! Phew.

So we’ve been trying to put her down on her tummy at night. She’s been a good sport about it but it’s been a little hard with her stuffy/runny nose.
