Quick Layover and Nap

We had a quick layover in Honolulu.

Janie enjoyed looking out the giant windows and crawling all over the place. Does she ever stop moving?!

nap

Fortunately for me, Janie passed out as soon as we took off for our flight from Oahu to Maui.  The flight was like a 30-minute bus ride from island to island and she slept from take-off to landing.

Grandma’s here!

yai

Yai arrived this afternoon and she was reflecting on it felt like just yesterday that we had brought Janie home from the hospital.

yai

Now Janie’s standing and cruising and it’s getting harder to keep up with her.  Janie had a good time playing with Yai and showing off all her new tricks.

protest

Unfortunately, she was way too excited that evening and protested when we put her down for the night.

Late Dinner

highchair

We were out a little late for dinner tonight but Janie was a trooper.  She ate her carrots and sipped her water at SuperDuper while checking out all the people around us.

Then on the train ride home, she fell asleep on Daddy’s lap.  Oh Baby…you had a long and exciting day.

Sleeping

Baby Girl is learning how to sleep like a big girl now and it’s going ok so far.  She goes to bed around 8 and wakes up around 9:30 screaming.  I’m not sure why but it’s pretty consistent.  Then I pick her up and put her on my lap while I watch TV and then boom.  She’s back asleep.  It’s been a while since she’s been able to fall asleep in my arms so easily so I’m enjoying it right now.  😉 It’s tempting to hold her all night but after about 2-3 minutes, I put her back to bed.  She’ll usually sleep most of the night with occasional wimpers but if she has G-raffe handy, she’s fine.  Her bed is in the livingroom now so when she sometimes wakes up around 3 am and cries (usually standing up), we wait it out and let her cry.  Sometimes it lasts 10 minutes.  The other night it lasted 30.  Fortunately, if we’re not in view, she settles down on her own and goes back to sleep.  No more nursing.  No more help from Mom and Dad.  She even sleeps on her tummy on her own now.  What a big girl.

napping

Here she is taking her morning nap before I left work this morning.  One minute she was playing and then another minute I found her like this.  Funny girl.

Fancy Dinner

fancy dinner

Janie came along with us on our fancy steak dinner tonight.  She was such a little lady sitting in her highchair.  It’s so cute how she’s still so small that she can barely see what’s on the table.

She sat quietly and ate her peas, carrots, and cheese while the grown-ups had their dinner too.

Our reservation was actually pretty late and she hung in there as long as she could.  By the end of our meal, her eyes were glazed over and she was ready for bed.

280 days

273 days

Janie is 40 weeks old today! That’s a full-term baby!  It’s been almost impossible to get a photo of her sitting still next to Senor Fatty Duck Duck so I resorted to this pose instead.  I guess it’s a good example of how much she’s changed this week.  All she wants to do is stand up!  Forget crawling!  This girl is starting to cruise along furniture and I’m sure you’ve also seen her new dance moves too.  This little lady should be ready for hula in no time.

Janie also had her 9-month check-up this past week and she’s starting to slim down.  The doc said, “She’s back on the chart now at the 87th percentile for weight.”  Janie’s also back to a good sleeping schedule.  She usually goes to bed around 8 and then wakes up screaming around 9:30.  I thought it was weird but I’m hearing from a good friend and our doctor that this happens when babies start moving and doing more.  It’s as if she wants to rehearse what she’s learned during the day and also doesn’t want to miss out on stuff.  Very interesting. Luckily, she falls back asleep fairly quickly and sleeps through the rest of the night.  Whoopee!  No more 1 am wake-up calls!
