Flight to Hawaii

20140423-114911.jpg

The morning started pretty early and Janie was in the backseat whining and saying “all done”. It had been about 30 mins in the car when she threw up all the milk and raspberries she had eaten for breakfast. Poor baby.

20140424-054234.jpgWhen it was time to board, she began to cry out “Mama up! Mama up!” She was almost hysterical and wouldn’t walk down the jetway. That was one of the most stressful moments we’ve had in a while. Luckily she calmed down once I got her in her seat. She was entertained by all kinds of things that I packed for her. She even took a nap on her own!

These window stickers were a big hit and so worth the $1 I paid for them!

20140424-055244.jpgShe was so happy to get off the plane and ran around the baggage claim like a happy puppy. She also got a kukui nut lei from the shuttle company.

20140424-055531.jpgRiding the shuttle bus on Daddy’s lap was also a fun treat. She was so happy and kept saying, “Mama, bus!” with a big smile on her face.

bedtime

IMG_2273

This is what bedtime looks like lately: blankie, GG, Big GG or Elephant, and on the sofa.  Eventually when she’s tired enough, she’s willing to sleep in her bed – most nights.  Other nights, she’ll wake up and end up on the sofa for the rest of the night.  This week, she’s been sleeping on the sofa with Mommy because she’s been sick and coughing.  Mommy’s exhausted.

Here she is rehearsing her numbers and letters with her Brown Bear book.  I swear this is why she wakes up in the middle of the night.  Her brain is constantly running. In case you can’t understand what she’s reciting, it starts out with 1-10 in Mandarin and then it transitions into a mumbled version of the ABC song.

Fortunately for us, she fell asleep on her own in her bed about 10 minutes after this video was taken.  Ah…maybe I can get some rest tonight.

Train to Burlingame

IMG_2117

This afternoon, we rode Caltrain down to Burlingame for dinner with Auntie and Uncle.  On our way down, we were joined by lots of Giants fans leaving the game that had just finished.  Luckily, we got to the station in time to board the train but there weren’t any seats.  So we stayed in the bike car and sat on the floor.

IMG_2125

Janie did a good job staying in one place and even got to stand up for a bit to look out the window.

IMG_2133

When we arrived, uncle and auntie were waiting for us and Janie was happy to see them.

IMG_2135

For dinner, we had pizza and Janie got some meatballs, pizza, and Daddy’s olives.

IMG_2168

When she was done eating, she made some pretend calls to Auntie Jia across the table.

IMG_2144

At the toy shop across the street, Janie played with a train set.

IMG_2146

She also said “hello” to a certain spotted friend there.

IMG_2150

We didn’t bring a stroller this evening and Janie did a good job holding a grown-up’s hand outside.

IMG_2154

She also liked having her hands in her pockets the whole time.

IMG_2158

Before heading back to the train station, we stopped for coffee and Janie read books with Uncle Jason.

IMG_2167

At the train station, Janie sat on the bench and waited patiently for the train to arrive.

IMG_2162

We had about 5 more minutes to spare so we got a quick family photo.

IMG_2163

Here comes the train!  It’s right on time!

IMG_2175

On the ride home, she fell asleep sitting between Mommy and Daddy on the train.

Not her bed…

IMG_1995

Look who slept on the sofa bed last night.  She cried and cried at midnight after waking up in her bed.  We picked her up and put her on the sofa and she fell asleep.  Mommy slept next to her and she didn’t make a single peep.  Now what do we do?

Alameda Sunday

IMG_1956

Janie went to Alameda with Mommy today and had a really fun time.

IMG_1953

First stop was brunch at East Ocean for dim sum.  She had plenty of jook that morning and Auntie Mai just kept it coming!

IMG_1957

She remembered Auntie Mai from Friday night and they had a fun time together.

IMG_1961

Silly Auntie!

IMG_1981

Here’s Janie and Vivian together in the stroller.  I love how Vivian is now wearing Janie’s old outfits.

IMG_1968

Next stop was Modern Mouse where she met up with her pal Zoe!  They gave each other High Footsie Fives today.

IMG_1969

She also tried to give Vivian one too but they were too far from each other.

IMG_1972

The South Shore Shopping Center was a perfect place to run free and explore.

IMG_1973

Please excuse the extra soggy diaper.  Mommy had forgotten to pack a diaper that day.  Luckily Vivian wears the same size and they hooked us up with one.  Thanks Vivian and Auntie Stephanie!!

IMG_1974

We met up at the frog fountain and found Mr. Ducky sleeping on the water.

IMG_1977

Zoe came by to play and shared her basketball with Janie.

IMG_1978

Janie also gave Auntie Eleen a big hug when it was time to say goodbye.

IMG_1980

Auntie Mai plucked a couple flower and put them in Janie’s pigtails.  So pretty!

IMG_1979

After a little ice cream with Auntie Mai and Auntie Stephanie, we went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s and Janie passed out right away.  What a fun-filled day!!

We love Saturdays!

IMG_1864

Saturday mornings are fun – especially when you can go to the Farmer’s Market! Janie enjoyed some classical music by the bay while Mommy was picking up food.

IMG_1866

Janie ate up all of Daddy’s capers.

Before lunch, we took her to the playground for some sliding and swinging.

IMG_1881

Here she is having lunch later that morning.

IMG_1897

She also got some of Mommy and Daddy’s ice cream on the way home.

IMG_1907

She fell asleep on our way home so Mommy and Daddy stopped for some time quiet time in the sun.

IMG_1915

After a good hour-and-a-half nap, she woke up refreshed.

IMG_1910

IMG_1922

Janie got a ride on Daddy’s shoulders for most of the way. Weeeeee!

IMG_1925

She also got to run around the park for a bit and practiced jumping off the cement blocks.

Goodnight

20140403-084936.jpg

Janie loves sleeping on the sofa bed lately. This evening she fell asleep while the whole family was watching tv. I’m always tempted to just leave her there for the rest of the night.

Mama!!

Early this morning at 2am, Janie woke up and called out “Mama!”  She did it a couple times and then went back to sleep.  A few minutes later, she woke up crying and screaming “MAMA!”  I thought it would stop after a couple minutes but it kept going.  All I heard for the next hour was “Mama!  Mama!  Mamaaaaaaa!”  Once in a while it would be a calm “Mama” and sometimes “Mama, GG, Mama, up, up”.  Eventually, we gave in and I ended up having her sleep on the sofa with me.

IMG_1747

She finally fell asleep at about 3:30 am and this is how I found her this morning.

IMG_1744

When Mirian arrived at 8:15am, she was still sleeping.  In fact, she slept until 9am! She woke up with rosy cheeks, a puffy face, and a smile.

IMG_1746

Here she is having her morning milk.  I sure hope tonight is better.

on the couch

IMG_1668

Janie didn’t like sleeping in the pack n play this weekend. When Mommy and Daddy got home from dinner, she was already asleep on the couch.  So, she stayed there for the night and surprisingly did not roll off.
