Watch us grow!

Janie slept well on her makeshift floor bed last night.

On our way to the lake, we stopped at Raley’s for some supplies/food. Janie stayed in the minivan and ended up falling asleep on the ride over to Camp Richardson Beach.

She got just enough sleep in to last the rest of the afternoon.

At the beach, we found a shady spot ad Janie spent the first half hour making “soup” and her version of sand castles.

She wasn’t scared of the water but it took some time for her to get her feet wet.

However, once she got comfortable, she was obsessed. At one point, she had wandered off on her own when she thought it was time to get some more water for her bucket.

She ate lunch under the trees while Daddy barbequed. It was just enough for her to regain her energy for more time in the water.

By the end of the afternoon, she was walking into the water on her own without shoes on and almost willing to go down to the rocks.. She loved stomping, kicking, and throwing the water and sand.
When it was time to go, I had to drag her out the water in order to pack up quick enough to beat the incoming storm that we could see in the near distance. I’d say that was a really fun day at the beach for Little Janie.

When we arrived at the resort, it started out sunny but then the clouds were getting gray and dark. As we walked up the hill to the lobby, we saw lightning and then heard a big boom. That was Janie’s first experience with thunder and once we explained it to her, she wasn’t scared anymore. It just startled her every once in a while as it does with anyone who doesn’t see the lightning first. It took a little while for us to get our keys so we hung out in the lobby area with Uncle James and Ariel.

At the condo, Ariel shared her magnetic blocks. How fun!

This is Janie’s bed for the weekend. It’s a yoga mat with a squishy comforter and two beach towels underneath a bedsheet. Looks super comfy! Ariel had one set-up in her room too so Janie was excited and tried it out before dinner.

I think Janie was inspired by all the scenery because she drew this picture and called it “Trees and Rain”.

For dinner, Daddy made beef noodle soup and she had quite a feast!

Afterward, Janie and Ariel took a bath together and had a good time.

On Friday night, Janie slept on the pull-out bed underneath a bunkbed that Mommy slept on. She looked like such a big girl sleeping on a big bed all by herself. This was Mommy’s view of her from above.

Once she woke up, there was time to play with the family before we had to pack up and leave.

Before heading out, Janie took a picture with Cousin Alice and her family too.

After checking out of the house, we stopped for breakfast at a local cafe.

Janie went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the first time today. Our first stop was the sea otter exhibit.

Next was the Splash Zone with lots of penguins, slides, riding toys, and a tunnel with fishies inside.

Later, we went to see the jellies and the new “tentacles” exhibit. The cuttlefish were her favorite.

Before lunch, we got a few good photos of Janie with the grandparents and the rest of the family.

This one cracks me up every time I see it.

We had lunch at Johnny Rockets and then it was time for a nap.

We all went back to the aquarium but Janie didn’t see any of it in the afternoon.

We drove down to Monterey today to meet up with the family. We timed it just around nap time so Janie got a good nap before all the excitement was about to begin.

On our way down, we stopped for lunch and she insisted on being a big girl and waited in line with all the grown-ups.

She also got her own bowl and ate like a champ at Chipotle.

We also stopped at Costco to pick up food for the weekend and she had such a good time reading and playing peek-a-boo with her book.

Every once in a while, Janie will put out a blanket and stuffed animals on the floor and pretend to go to sleep. Maybe napping at daycare won’t be as hard as I thought.

She actually enjoys being on the floor.

Here she is pretending to be asleep. What a silly girl.

This is how Janie ended up in the morning. She usually starts on with her head on the pillows on the left where Senor Fatty Duck Duck is sitting.

Janie is still a hobbit and insisted on having a second dinner when Mommy and Daddy finally got to eat dinner.

When she lounged in bed watching Sesame Street for a bit.

This is what she looks like when it’s time to turn off the tv.

This evening, Janie decided to pretend to go to sleep on the floor. Then she proceeded to imitate Little Anna in the movie Frozen.

“The sky’s awake so I’m awake.”

“So we have to play!”
Here’s the clip I’m talking about:
