We went to the Cal Academy this morning and arrived right before it opened for members only. Janie brought her spyglass (toilet paper roll) today so she could spy on the fish.

Peanut sat in the stroller today so he could see all the fish.

This was his favorite exhibit. Reminds me of the photo we have of Janie at the same age.

This was Janie at 3 months at the Waikiki Aquarium.

Janie spent extra time at the large tank with Dada. They searched for the fish shown on the guide cards.

Peanut just hung out with Mama and stared at the fish swimming around.

Janie made another smushed penny with Dada and got one with penguins on it.

For lunch, we walked to Pacific Catch just outside of Golden Gate Park.

Janie got a tasty Carrot Ginger soup and they serve fish pretzels and edamame as a snack! Perfect.

And for dessert, we stopped at the ice cream truck and got a vanilla and chocolate swirl soft serve – Janie’s favorite.

On the way home, both kids were asleep in the car. It was a fun and exciting morning for us all.

This morning, I found Peanut with his thumb in his mouth. So cute.

I guess we couldn’t stay cooped up in the house all day. When Mama asked Janie where she wanted to go for dinner, she said, “Thai restaurant”. So, we bundled up Peanut in the stroller and took a little walk in the dark. Luckily, we had Janie’s trusty flashlight.

I guess she knows this is our usual dinner place when Dada is away.

With a full belly and a brisk walk home, she was ready to go to bed and fell asleep shortly after changing back into her pjs and washing up.

We flew home to SF this evening.

The flight was full but the kids did well.

Here we are waiting for Dada to pick us up at SFO. We’re happy to be home again.

Disneyland!!

This morning everyone was up early to go to Disneyland! It was a continuation of our celebration of Alice’s 2nd Birthday. Even Peanut was in a good mood and didn’t mind the ride in the car this time.

This would be Janie’s 5th(!) time and Peanut’s 1st!! Unfortunately, Janie wasn’t in a picture-taking mood this morning.

Our first stop was Fantasyland where we beat the crowds and got on Dumbo, Casey Jr. and the carousel within the first hour.

Janie flew Dumbo up and down while Peanut snoozed through the ride.

Next was the Nemo submarine ride and there was a super-short line there too!!

Some parts are still a little scary but there were no tears and Janie still had a lot of fun. She was excited to see all her favorite characters swimming around.

Afterward, Janie went to Autopia and drove a yellow roadster with Ta.

She was behind the wheel while Ta pressed the gas pedal for her. Not sure if she could even see over the wheel but she had a blast.

After a big BBQ lunch, both kids passed out for their naps.

Peanut woke up first and was all smiles during his diaper change.

After their naps, Janie and Alice watched the Frozen play at the Royal Theater. I think Janie was a little star-struck when she saw Elsa and Anna appear on stage.

Meanwhile, Peanut hung out with Mama and Yai outside.

He had some good belly laughs with his grandma today.

Before dinner, the girls went on the teacups with Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy. It doesn’t look like it in this picture but Janie said it was a lot of fun.

For dinner, Janie got a kids meal that came with mac and cheese, apples, carrots, and milk. Cool!!

While Yai waited in our parade spot, the kids went on the Astro Orbiter (aka rocketships). I was amazed at how well these two girls can wait in line.

Janie was the driver again and said this was her favorite ride of the day.

Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy also took her on another ride on the carousel.

The wait for the parade was pretty long and Janie tried so hard to stay awake for it. Luckily, it started just in time and she LOVED seeing Elsa and Anna on the castle float.

Peanut was awake for the Light the Night Parade and was in awe of all the lights, music, and movement. He kept hoo-ing throughout the whole thing.

The grand finale was the fireworks that started right after the parade. We saw Nemo swim across the sky and Janie’s favorite song “Let it Go” was played while the fireworks went off and snow started to fall.

What a fun day at the “Happiest Place on Earth”. It’s so much fun to see Disneyland through Janie’s eyes. I grew up at this place and it’s like reliving all the fun and magic all over again with her.

She was also quite a trooper today and I was so happy to see her on her best behavior. She patiently waited in line, followed directions, told us when she had to use the bathroom (no accidents!), and even took a nap today.

This was also Peanut’s first visit. It’s Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary and it’ll be fun to see him take his own kids there for the 100th Anniversary. Hopefully I’ll still be alive and healthy enough to tag along with them.

Sleepy Dude

This afternoon, Peanut was taking a nap and looked like a chubby little worm.

When he woke up, Uncle Johnny found him starting to cry so he brought him out to the livingroom. Look at that sleepy little face…

We also see now where he got his lush head of hair.

Just 16 hours after arriving in San Francisco, Mama, Janie, and Peanut took off on a second adventure.

We took 3 trains, a plane, and a car to Cerritos all on our own. It started with a Muni ride to the BART station, then BART to the Oakland Colliseum, and then a ride on the new Skyway to Oakland International Airport.

At the airport, we had plenty of time to check our suitcase, get our boarding passes, get through security, and have lunch before boarding the plane.

Peanut sat quietly in Mama’s lap while Janie did some coloring.

Our JetBlue flight was only an hour long and we scored an empty seat in our row! Janie watched a movie while Peanut sucked on his hand and eventually fell asleep.

Grandma was at Long Beach airport to greet us and we were in Cerritos by 3pm.

This kid was so happy to be at “Cerritos House”. She immediately went to the backyard to play in the sandbox that Ta built.

The rest of the day was spent catching up with Uncle Johnny, Auntie Joy, Alice, Yai, and Ta.

The girls had dinner together and then played until it was time for bed.

Flight Home

Vancouver International Airport has these funny stuffed animals throughout. Peanut was not amused when Mama stopped the stroller each time to take a photo of him with them.
