Peanut always seems to have his round tummy exposed when he’s sleeping. So cute.
One of his favorite songs right now is “Baby Beluga”. In the car to Japan Town, he was wide awake and singing this song pretty much through the whole ride across the bridge in traffic. Here‘s what the song is supposed to sound like.

Meanwhile, Janie was sound asleep in her seat with her hand still in the snack bag.

This boy had quite a fun-filled day and went straight to bed after the party.

This guy decided to sleep in this morning. Unfortunately, it was a school day and Mama had to get to work on time. I hate waking a sleeping monster.

We had a warm sunny day in Alameda so we hopped in the pool before lunch. Peanut was not a fan of the water today but it may have just been too close to his nap time.

Janie, on the other hand, had a fun time floating around and getting some swimming lesson’s from Dada on the kickboard. She also put her head underwater at least 5 times.

As soon as we got home and rinsed him off, he was passed out in turtle mode. Poor baby.

Meanwhile, Janie rode her scooter to Safeway with Dada and bought ingredients for our tasty burgers grilled in the patio.
Delicious!

This afternoon, we drove to a park in Oakland to celebrate Hudson’s birthday. It was the first time we had both kids riding in the back in their new seats. It looks so spacious back there now.

Once we arrived, Janie found Henry playing under the tree picking flowers. She found a California poppy.

We put up out pop-up tent next to Henry’s and the kids played together rather nicely.

We also had a good gathering of friends in our tent for snacks.

Hudson loved his birthday cupcake and ate the whole thing.

Auntie Teresa makes the best carrot cake and also made these special Brown Bear cupcakes for the occasion.

Peanut still doesn’t like cake, just in case you were wondering.

Peanut contributed to the birthday book with lots of cool scribbles.

The kids passed out on the drive home. What a fun party!

They also took a bath together when they woke up.

I love watching my babies sleep. This reminds me to stop and appreciate these times. He’ll be in college before we know it.

Today is Janie’s 5th Birthday!! Her special day has finally arrived and she couldn’t be more excited. In honor of her new age, Dada got her her very own Clipper card.

Now that she’s 5, she has to pay the child price and gets to “beep” herself on and off.

To celebrate, Mama took the day off to take her to school. We rode the ferry together and she was so happy to show Mama where to go and what to do.

We dropped her off for the morning so that she could celebrate with her friends at school. She was greeted with a “Happy Birthday!” from her teacher as soon as she walked in and they sang “Happy Birthday” to her multiple times throughout the day.

We picked her up after her nap and they sang to her once more before she left school early with Mama.

The best part of her day was wearing her giant 5 crown. As we walked through the city, everyone would wish her a “Happy Birthday” and took notice that she was 5 today.

As a special treat, we took the birthday girl to Waterbar for some raw oysters. We ordered a dozen and she ate 8 of them on her own.

The waitress also left us some chocolates after we paid the bill. The plate even said “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate sauce.

We rode the earliest ferry back to Alameda together and sat on the back to enjoy the view.

For dinner, we ordered pizza and sang to her one more time.

We love you so much, Big Girl! So sad to see the little baby slowly fade away but we are so excited to see what you’ll learn and accomplish in the next year in Kindergarten. Don’t grow up too quickly! You’ll always be our Baby KK!!

Janie has been asking for hot pot since we bought the new house and she got her wish this evening. She helped cook the meat and Peanut tried to use chopsticks.

It was a good thing we had dinner so early because Peanut was so tired midway through and had to go to bed. He was down by 6:30! School really wipes this guy out.

Today was Peanut’s first day of daycare. Dada and Mama drove him to Alameda and dropped him off around 11:00 am for a short trial run. The kids had just finished eating lunch and were settling down for a nap when we arrived. The teacher had an extra meal for him so he sat down to eat with Mama by his side.

He had quite a bit to eat and was happy to watch the kids trying to nap.

Then it was his turn. They had a cot ready for him in the middle of the other kids. Mama put him down with BooBoo and his blanket and he just stayed there. At that point, it was time for Mama to say goodbye.

At noon, we picked up the keys to our new house and moved a few items in. By the afternoon, it was time to pick up Peanut and we found him sitting at the table with his classmates.

He’s in the youngest class, named the Honeybees, and he’s probably the youngest one in his class too.

Looks like he settled in just nicely today. He didn’t even need BooBoo by the end of the day. Teacher said he took only a short nap and did rather well for his first day.

When it was time to go, he insisted on putting his backpack on.

He even waved goodbye to his new teacher, Rosi, as we left.

Here he is in the multi-purpose room. This school is huge!!

We’re glad he had a fun first day. We just hope the following days are just as good.
