This painting came home from school and it was called “Solar System” . It’s really pretty and will be a keeper. Mama will have to find a frame for it.

Janie was in both newsletter photos today. She played with zoobs and blocks with the girls and had soccer practice this morning. Looks like she was the only girl among a big group of boys today. She also did not want to wear her soccer jersey. Instead, she chose the Elsa shirt that Ankong bought from Europe.

The letter of the week was W today. Janie brought in her Octonauts Creature Report book and showed everyone in her class all the different whales. This photo was in today’s newsletter from school.

School was closing early today so I had to leave work early to get there on time. It also happened to be Parent Day and I caught the tail end of it. When she saw me, she said “you’re late!” Oh well, at least I was there for some of it.

All the kids had a gift for their parents. Hers said “My mom’s job is to put Peanut to bed and to bring me my giraffe. Dad’s job is reading books to us.”

She also had a quick snack of strawberries, pound cake, and whipped cream before heading home.

On the board this month are new Words of Wisdom. The question this month is “How I Help My Mom and Dad”.

Janie said “I help Mom and Dad with Peanut. I put the bottle in the kitchen.”

She also drew this house on the table cover on the snack table. She pointed it out across the table and said the star at the top was for Mama “for doing everything by herself without Daddy”. I thought I was gonna cry.

Every Thursday, the kids bring something that starts with the letter of the week to share with the class. This week is the letter U and Janie brought in photos of her UNCLES!

This is the photo that was featured in the daily update. So sweet.

This afternoon, Dada had a 5pm meeting so Mama picked Janie up from school. She was in the middle of playing with Sota when she arrived.

She also wanted to bring home her artwork. She goes through a lot of paper in a month!

She also had some new Words of Wisdom posted on the wall. This month, it was titled “Earth Day 2016”. The question was “what do you love about our planet and what can you do to protect her?”

Her answer was “I love giraffes, so I don’t waste water. The giraffes need to drink.”

Janie loves the water table at school and that’s where she was when Mama picked her up this afternoon.

This afternoon, there was a fundraiser/carnival at Janie’s school so Mama got off early to attend. All the parents had to buy tickets and pay for treats, games, and crafts so their kids could participate. Janie decorated this canvas bag for 3 tickets and drew a picture of Mama on one side and then wrote her name on the other.

This was their class’ silent auction item. It was a collection of self-portraits and photos of each kid in the class.

This afternoon, Mama picked up Janie from school on her way home from work. Janie was playing with the Magna-Tiles and trains.

Mama later made dinner and Peanut had egg for the first time and he’s not allergic to egg whites or yolks. Hooray!

Looks like he thoroughly enjoyed Mama’s cauliflower, ground turkey, and egg dish today.

Today is Earth Day and the Janie’s class prepared a performance for all the families. Dada was able to make it and Janie was so excited to see him.

They all made eagle costumes in class these past couple weeks and the paper bag handles underneath served as handles for holding the wings open. Pretty clever. Our goofball is right up front showing off her wings. Unfortunately, the performance was not very good but at least Janie had a good time.

Here they are at Starbucks across the street waiting for Mama to pick them up after work.

We later took a photo and short clip of her soaring like an eagle. When Mama said “flap your wings”, Janie said “no, eagles don’t flap, they SOAR!”
