Soda Springs

We got up early this morning and drove up to Truckee.

The kids were still in their PJs and put on their snow gear when we arrived at the snow park.

There was so much snow and more coming down in flight fluffy balls that looked like styrofoam.

Peanut was so tired by the afternoon and fell asleep on an inner tube.

At the end of the day, we had some tasty ice cream.

Snow Day in the City

It’s out last morning at the hotel and it started snowing pretty hard!

The kids had fun watching the snow fall from our window.

They had breakfast in the room, which included timbits – of course!

After we checked out and loaded up the car, we took a walk around the block to a ramen place that Auntie Amy recommended.

It was fun walking and sloshing in the snow.

The ramen place is called Kokoro and was pretty good!

Back to Surrey

For our last night in Vancouver, we drove back to Auntie Amy’s house in Surrey. The kids came home from school a little later and they played all night long.

At one point, they were playing with play dough and Janie made a dish of chicken over mashed potato and a side of spinach.

Cypress Mountain

We are on our way for another day of snowboarding! This time, we are headed to Cypress Mountain, only 40 minutes from downtown.

The kids got their gear and had a group lesson together. They were pretty far out so we didn’t get any photos or videos of the action.

After a morning in the snow, we went to Ellie and Amelia’s grandmother’s house to play and rest. Thanks to Uncle Eric for watching all the kids tonight!!!

Sea to Sky

This morning, the kids were so happy to see all the snow in front of Amelia and Ellie’s house. They had a little bit of time to play before we piled into the minivan for a ride up to Squamish to ride the Seat to Sky Gondola.

The gondola took us up the mountain and Peanut was so excited.

At the top, there was a suspension bridge and other places to explore.

Janie drew initials in the snow and asked Mama to take a picture.

They also went down the tubing hill together and Janie kept her eyes closed the whole time.

Peanut was not tall enough to ride so he went to the store for a Canadian maple syrup treat.

He also finished off the timbits before the kids came back. He’s become a BIG FAN of timbits on this trip.

On the drive back down the mountain, the girls fell asleep in the back. Poor Janie became a pillow for Ellie and Amelia.

Heading to Canada

Janie has the next week off for “Ski Week” so we decided to book a trip up to Vancouver to do some snowboarding and to hang out with family. We all got up early and caught a bus to the airport for our flight to Seattle. The kids were good sports and we had enough time to eat breakfast at the airport before boarding.

The kids enjoyed time of their iPads and we had a smooth flight.

The next leg of the trip was to pick up our rental car in Seattle and drive 2.5 hours to Surrey, which is only 15 minutes from the USA/Canada border.

When we arrived, Auntie Amy had a spread of food prepared for us, including fresh oysters and uni!

Once Amelia and Ellie came home from school, the fun really started!
