The Long Journey

We are headed to Vancouver, BC for ski week and the journey from Alameda to Surrey took a lot longer than it should have. It started with 8:30am bus ride to the airport. Peanut drew a map for us.

Once we arrived at the airport, we received a text update that our flight was an hour delayed. That one hour quickly turned into 3 hours so we had a lot of time to kill. The kids were really good about the wait and figured out ways to entertain themselves.

This is Peanut asking when we could get on the plane.

They especially enjoyed the airport store that had a bunch of Paw Patrol pups, including a brand-new Rubble.

When we finally boarded our plane and took off at 2pm, the flight was short enough for a few cartoons and a snack (2.5 hours).

We finally landed in Seattle around 4-something and were so relieved to be closer to our destination.

The next part of our journey was a bus ride to the rental car area. Getting the car was not problem but when we got in, the car wouldn’t start. Turned out it was a brand new car that had come off the truck and was not drivable yet. It even had the clear stickers covering the A-frame and dash. The rental car guys had to look up on YouTube how to install the fuses and change it from shipping mode to driving mode.

Our drive to Surrey took about 2.5 more hours and we got to the US-Canada border around 8pm. The drive to Surrey from there was quick and we arrived at Auntie Amy’s house around 8:30pm. That made our journey a total of 12 hours long!! Crazy.

The whole family was there waiting for us and we arrived in time to have birthday cake for Uncle Jay’s birthday.

The kids were up late and had a blast playing together. I love how they can pick up from where they left off last summer.

Mama-Peanut Night

After Dada and Janie left for their dinner and dance, Peanut went on a scooter ride with Mama as she ran. We went all the way around the lagoon and rode through his school to show off his scooter to his teacher.

Before dinner, we stopped at Toy Safari where they sell lots of used toys. Peanut picked out a submarine for the bathtub.

Then we had dinner at Tomatina where he ordered the kid’s Caesar salad and ravioli.

After dinner, he was given the choice of getting ice cream at Tucker’s or going to the arcade. He chose the arcade and had so much fun. He tried Excite Bike, a driving/racing game, and Street Fighter II.

What a fun night for Mama and Peanut!

Goodbye Party

We went to Uncle Jimmy’s house to not only watch the Super Bowl but to also wish Uncle Victor, Auntie Susie, and Baby Parker a farewell. They’re moving to Austin, TX in a couple weeks and sad to see them go.

Peanut did such as great job entertaining Parker during the party. We got some really good giggles out of him.

We will miss you all! Can’t wait to visit!

Year of the Rat

To celebrate the new Lunar Year, we all gathered at Uncle Ian’s house again and the kids left with a handful of red envelopes.

Peanut loves this house because Uncle Ian has miniature arcade games.

Janie enjoys this occasion because she gets to play a game that involves placing bets, rolling dice, and sometimes winning Dada some money.

Motor Development

At Samuel Merritt University (where Mama went to graduate school), the kids were invited to be a part of a motor development class. The instructors work with Mama and the other participants were are buddies Hudson and Henry (Auntie Teresa’s kids). They did a great job performing in front of a giant class of PT grad students.

They demonstrated various gross motor skills and it was great to have kids of different ages (7, 6, 4, and 3).

One more day!!

This morning, the kids were up early and starting playing right away. They’re so cute with their matching pjs and bed head.

We also made one more trip to Soda Springs for a morning to rides before heading home.

We went straight to the green runs and had a full morning of snowboarding.

Peanut figured out a new way of sliding down the mountain and we laughed the whole way down.

We later met up with Zoe and Maya on the other side and the kids had fun going down the bunny slopes together.

Soda Springs

We were up early and got ready to go snowboarding!

The cabin is so BIG and the kids got to explore a bit before heading out.

Today we hit a milestone. We all went up the ski lift and rode down a green run together as a family!

Janie also went down a green run without falling or stopping for the first time!! What a great day we all had in the snow!!

By the time Mama and Janie were done with their last run, Peanut fell asleep in Dada’s lap. He was beat!
